وهناك اهتمام حاليًا من قبل اتحاد الكرة باللاعبين مزدوجي الجنسية من أجل الاستفادة بهم في المنتخبات الوطنية على خطى ما تقوم به منتخبات شمال إفريقيا.

'Best bowling performance of the summer' – Smith

The deciding Test match between South Africa and Sri Lanka swung the way of the hosts as early as the first morning. South Africa were put in to bat and reached lunch on 135 for 2. Before tea on the second day that had become 580 for 4 and the hosts had effectively batted the visitors out of the contest.Rather than talking up the batting effort, Graeme Smith, the South Africa captain, credited his bowlers with fashioning the comprehensive victory. “This was our best bowling performance of the summer,” Smith said. “We bowled well as a unit. Yesterday, each guy bowled really well in their spells and we were able to create pressure. It wasn’t just one guy bowling outstandingly and picking up seven or eight wickets. All three seamers and Imran [Tahir] worked together in partnerships.”South Africa bowled Sri Lanka out for 239 in their first innings, taking the last eight wickets for 90 runs. After enforcing the follow-on, they managed to nip out four wickets by stumps on the third day and completed the win just after tea on the fourth, sealing their first series win at home since they beat Bangladesh in 2008. They have since drawn home series against England, India and Australia but Smith said they had lacked the ability to close out series.”We haven’t lost too many [series] but we haven’t had the killer punch. Durban [where South Africa have lost their last four Tests] was a disappointing moment for us again this summer. It was a big wake-up call for the guys in terms of the standards that we need to produce as a team. But otherwise, the rest has been positive. This win in particular gives us a lot to build on for the year to come.”South Africa embark on a trio of away tours in 2012: they play in New Zealand in February, England in July and Australia in November. Smith said they will draw inspiration from the way they ended the home summer when on the road. “The way we won here was important. We had good partnerships with the bat and the ball, and everything we’ve been talking about came out strongly.”Although South Africa finished with authority, there are still some unanswered questions about the make-up of their Test squad, particularly with regards to the batting line-up. “At the moment, everyone is finding questions somewhere in a Test match,” Smith said. “We just need to build our strength as a team and each guy needs to get strong in his role. There are a few things that need to be cemented.”The same areas that were under scrutiny at the beginning of the series are at the end: the opening berth and the No. 6 slot. South Africa made a change to both for the third Test, dropping Ashwell Prince and moving Jacques Rudolph down the order while replacing him with Alviro Petersen at the top. Both Petersen and Rudolph had success in their new roles, the former scoring a century and the latter an unbeaten 51. While Petersen fit in seamlessly, Rudolph still has some critics to convince, but Smith said he was pleased with the progress Rudolph made. “I’m sure he was very nervous even though we were in a strong position; you’ve got to come in and play a certain way. With the changes and everything he must have been nervous and it was great to see him play that way.”The other question mark is the place of Mark Boucher, who did not get an opportunity with the bat at Newlands and dropped a catch in Sri Lanka’s second innings. Smith stressed that Boucher is in no danger of being dropped from the team anytime soon, especially not before the tour of England in six months.”I think that’s the first catch I’ve seen him drop from 10 to 15 metres back. I think he is secure. As a gloveman he has been excellent for us. Overall, in the time that I’ve played with him, his consistency in taking chances has been excellent. He is ultra-reliable so when he does put down a chance a big thing gets made of it. Going to England, having a really good keeper is going to be the key factor there.”

It's a cut-throat business – Bopara

Ravi Bopara is not taking things for granted after recent success

ESPNcricinfo staff09-Oct-2011After a couple of important innings for England during their home ODI series against India, Ravi Bopara started the tour of India with a score of 73 against Hyderabad, which was crucial to the England XI winning the game. However, Bopara, who has been in and out of the England side during his career, is not taking anything for granted.”It’s a cut-throat business,” he said. “You’ve just got to keep playing well whenever things are in your favour, and make sure you nail it.”England dominated India at home, winning the Test series 4-0 and the five-match ODI series 3-0, but the challenge for them will be to adapt to conditions in the subcontinent, where they struggled during the World Cup. Bopara said singles would be important since sometimes it was difficult to go through with your shots on Indian pitches.”You’ve always got to look for boundaries; you’ve got to keep hitting the ball very hard. But it is a lot more difficult in India because you do know that if the pitch is not playing quite right you can’t go through with all your shots. There is the worry of chipping it to the infield.”You’ve got to have that in mind. You don’t then hit the ball quite as hard or freely as you would like to. On those sorts of pitches, the singles do become very important – you don’t want to be tied up with too many dot balls and put yourself under pressure, and have to look for a big shot on a pitch that is not quite suited to the batters.”England’s batsmen had a tough time of it against Hyderabad, losing four wickets in the first 15 overs before Bopara and Chris Woakes took them to a score of 219. “It was a little bit of a difficult pitch, especially up front,” Bopara said. “With the new ball, it was quite tough. But once the ball got older, it got better.”It was hard to get the ball away, and quite a soft outfield. It was one of those where we thought we should be scoring a lot quicker, but in reality I thought 240 would have been a good score, and as it proved 220 was a good score.”Bopara recently put in a surprising performance with the ball, taking 4 for 10 to help England beat West Indies in a Twenty20 international at The Oval. He said he expected his bowling to be called upon against India as well.”I think it’s important for me to get my bowling right on this tour. At some stage my bowling is going to be called upon and I’m going to have to do a good job because, as we know, this Indian side have a very, very good batting line-up; they are playing in their own conditions too.” He said he hoped to kick on from the positive start to the tour.Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Craig Kieswetter is set to join England at practice for the first time on October 10, after Somerset were eliminated from the Champions League T20 at the semi-final stage. Kisewetter suffered a bruised arm during the semi-final against Mumbai Indians, when he was struck by a smash down the ground from his batting partner Jos Buttler. England will assess the injury as soon as possible.

Agenda-setting Watson to stay up top

Shane Watson is best suited to setting a speedy agenda at the top of the Test batting order rather than plugging gaps further down, the national selector Greg Chappell has said.Since becoming vice-captain under the team’s new leader Michael Clarke, Watson has pondered his ideal place within the XI, and has given ground to the possibility of moving down the order if it would help solidify a batting unit prone to collapse. Such a move would also allow Watson the chance to bowl a little more, and perhaps escape a pattern of being dismissed between 50 and 100.However Chappell was adamant that Watson should remain an opening batsman, to be partnered in Sri Lanka by either Simon Katich or Phil Hughes, as his ability to score runs quickly at the outset of an innings was a priceless asset.”I think at this stage we’re pretty happy with him opening,” Chappell told . “The beauty with Shane is that when he gets runs he tends to get them at a good strike rate. If you’ve got someone who makes runs at that sort of strike rate at the top of the order a la Matthew Hayden, it can make a very big difference.”If we get to the point where there’s others who we think might do the job it will come up in discussion, but the issue is if you take him out of that role and whoever replaces him doesn’t do it as well and he doesn’t do as well somewhere else, it’s not a straightforward exercise. He’s ideally suited to opening, he likes opening, he’s doing it well.”I think we’re very comfortable with that situation at the moment. It’s nice that he’s thinking outside himself and looking at it from a team perspective, but I can tell you the best thing for the team at the moment is for him to keep opening and keep scoring runs the way he does.”One of the more curious selections for the Australia A tour of Zimbabwe is that of David Warner in both limited-overs and first-class squads, an indication that his healthy conclusion to the 2010-11 Sheffield Shield for New South Wales had caught Chappell’s attention. Known mainly as a rapid-fire opening bat in Twenty20 cricket, Warner’s technical fundamentals are arguably more pure than those of his Blues compatriot Hughes, leaving open the possibility of a Test match future.”He finished the season off really well, I was pleased that New South Wales gave him those four-day opportunities because I’ve felt for some time that he has the ability to be a good long-form cricketer and the danger is you can pigeonhole somebody,” Chappell said. “I saw him get 90-odd here in Melbourne against Victoria at the MCG and he got a hundred up at the SCG I saw and they were two pretty impressive innings.”He has that capability so let’s see how he progresses over the next little while, but I don’t think there’s any thought from the national selection panel about shifting Shane from where he is at the moment.”

Foi louco! Corinthians goleia o Paraná e mantém 100% no Brasileiro

A razão. Sorte de seu bando de loucos.

Flower has cancerous growth removed

England’s coach, Andy Flower, was forced to miss the second day of the opening Ashes Test at the Gabba after undergoing an operation to remove a cancerous growth, or melanoma, in his right cheek.According to an ECB spokesman, Flower, 42, noticed the growth earlier this week during the final days of England’s build-up for the series, and opted to undergo a precautionary operation at a local Brisbane hospital. He is expected to rejoin the squad before the end of the Test.”As far as he is concerned, it is business as usual,” said the spokesman. “He was not at the game today, because he had a melanoma taken out – which was successful. At this stage, he is expected to be fine.”He went off for a routine check, and they said they felt it prudent to take it out,” said the spokesman. “He may well be back on deck tomorrow, or most definitely the following day.”The early removal of such growths is usually almost 100% effective to combating the disease, and the prevention of skin cancer is an issue that is widely promoted in Australia. In his absence, the fielding coach Richard Halsall has been put in temporary charge of the squad.

Rangers injury news on Ramsey

Andrew Dickson has been left reacting to some Glasgow Rangers injury news that has now emerged involving Aaron Ramsey.

The Lowdown: ‘Out for season’

The Times shared some big news on Tuesday that Ramsey could be out for the season, after picking up an injury during their 2-1 win against Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final over the weekend.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/rangers-news-3/” title=”Rangers news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

It is reportedly ‘unlikely’ that he will return to Ibrox next season after his loan spell ends this term, suggesting that the Wales international may have already played his last game for the Teddy bears.

The Latest: Dickson reacts

Taking to Twitter, Scottish football journalist Dickson has now given his reaction to the news, claiming that it is ‘disappointing’ if Ramsey has played his last match for the Light Blues:

“If correct, a disappointing end to an intriguing experiment which, even if it failed, was worth a gamble on at £30k a week.

“Played his part at points, just not as much as he or supporters would have liked due to his circumstances.”

The Verdict: Big blow

Of course, not just losing Ramsey for their upcoming clash away at Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership, but potentially for the rest of the season, is no doubt a big blow for Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his team.

In his five appearances in the SPFL, the 31-year-old managed to score two goals, while he also ranked highly among his teammates in terms of average shots per match in general (WhoScored).

His experience of playing European football for both Arsenal and Juventus could have been so useful for their UEFA Europa League semi-final tie against RB Leipzig, but now it looks like they will have to go through the remainder of the campaign without him.
