An update has emerged on out-of-work manager Lucien Favre, regarding Newcastle’s interest in his services.

What’s the talk?

According to Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope, the ex-Borussia Dortmund manager is in the frame to replace Steve Bruce at Newcastle.

Hope has claimed that Bruce is set to be sacked by the new owners, PIF, and Favre is one name on a long list of potential successors to the ex-Aston Villa and Sunderland coach.

This key update from Hope will surely leave Newcastle fans feeling delighted as, on paper, it would be a shrewd appointment by the new owners. The 63-year-old has an impressive C.V with a history of achieving success and could be perfect for what the Magpies need at this moment in time.

To paraphrase a famous saying, Premier League super teams are not built in a day. It will take time for PIF to invest in the squad and get Newcastle to a point, if they ever do, where they can be competing at the highest level domestically and in Europe.

This is why Favre could be the ideal candidate for Newcastle as he has a history of performing well without having a mega-squad at his disposal straight away.

He achieved four straight top-eight Bundesliga finishes with Borussia Monchengladbach before finding himself at Ligue 1 side Nice – finishing third and eighth in his two years at the club.

Interestingly, he signed current Magpies dynamo Allan Saint-Maximin for Nice in 2017, with the winger producing five goals and nine assists under Favre’s management. This means that he could get the best out of the French winger at St. James’ Park, having worked with him previously.

Favre also showed that he can do well with top players, such as Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus and Erling Haaland at his disposal. In two full seasons at Borussia Dortmund, he led the German giants to second place behind Bayern Munich, averaging over two points per game in both years. This means that he has the experience and quality as a coach to work with teams in the top-ten bracket, whilst also being able to perform well at a title challenger like Dortmund.

Therefore, he could be the perfect man to handle Newcastle’s potential transition from a team battling against relegation to one competing for titles. This is why the fans should be delighted that PIF are looking at him to replace Bruce in the coming weeks.

وتابع: “استقبلنا هدفين من ضربات ثابتة، ولم أر ركلة الجزاء التي احتُسِبت للأهلي، وأشكر لاعبي الجونة رغم النتيجة، ونحن في وضع صعب لكن لدينا طموح للبقاء في الدوري”.

وواصل: “لا يصح أن أهاجم الأهلي وأفتح خطوطي أمامه، ولن أستطيع أن أفعل ذلك، وإذا كنت تريد أن أهاجمه فلتأت أنت وتفعل ذلك”.

– O início do ano me enganou muito. Era titular, fiz gols… ninguém falava em perder peso. Milton me falou que eu precisava perder alguns quilos para render mais. Ele está sendo como um pai para mim. Moro sozinho e agora cortei hambúrger e outros alimentos que tinha costume de comer. Chegou a me dizer “se gordo você faz muitos gols, imagina magro?”. Entendi ele e passei por esse processo. Voltei a jogar e vou dar meu máximo para corresponder a todos em campo – afirmou Thalles.

Thalles ganhou moral por ter entendido o problema que passava. Neste domingo, tem a missão de fazer gols e relembrar momentos e felicidade, como nas rodadas finais da Série B do Campeonato Brasileiro no ano passado quando fez os gols decisivos para o acesso do Vasco. E caso consiga sair de campo no Paraná sem ser derrotado, fará com que o Cruz-Maltino pontue pela primeira vez neste Brasileiro fora de casa. Milton Mendes comentou sobre o processo que passou com Thalles ao longo das últimas semanas.

– Às vezes tem que punir para as pessoas entenderem. Não é tão simples o trabalho do técnico, tem que gerir muita coisa. Tem de ser juiz, punir para as pessoas aprenderem. Cada um tem personalidade diferente. O treinador tem que tentar entender cada um. Nossa psicóloga nos ajuda. Saem cedo de casa, ficam longe dos pais e, às vezes, olham no treinador um pai, um líder, um amigo, um juiz. Dependendo do momento, tem que incorporar aquela situação. Não é fácil – admitiu Milton Mendes ao comentar a situação de Thalles.

Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge insists that Tottenham Hotspur were looking to sell Davinson Sanchez at the beginning of the summer.

Spurs have been attempting to restructure their playing squad this summer and have seen a number of players leave the club.

The club have sold Juan Foyth to Villarreal, Toby Alderweireld to Qatari side Al-Duhail SC, and Joe Hart to Celtic, while Erik Lamela moved to Sevilla in a part-exchange deal that has seen Bryan Gil join Spurs. Danny Rose and Paulo Gazzaniga have also left on free transfers.

Bridge now reports that Sanchez was seen as an expendable asset at the beginning of the summer but there may now be some reticence to move him on after the way he has begun the season.

Indeed, he played exceptionally well in the friendly against Arsenal, while he has also played in the first two Premier League games of the season, against Manchester City and Wolves, with Spurs keeping two consecutive clean sheets in a pair of 1-0 wins.

Bridge said: “Sanchez was probably the one they were going to look at to offload. However, he played very, very well against Arsenal, he was really good against City.

“I think the problem with Davinson Sanchez, though, is that we know he’s good but he has a real rocket in him.”

Tottenham Hotspur are set to compete with Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain for the prospective free transfer of AC Milan’s Franck Kessie in January, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Tuttomercatoweb), and the trio of suitors may have been given some encouragement following recent developments. 

The Lowdown: Contract problems 

Since his permanent move to AC Milan in 2019 following a two-year loan spell, Kessie has been linked with a move to top clubs across Europe. 

The 24-year-old, who has made 44 appearances for the Ivory Coast national team, hasn’t appeared for the Serie A side since his brace earned all three points at the end of May against Atalanta.  He is yet to feature for Stefano Pioli’s side this season after helping his nation to the quarter-finals of the Olympic Games in Tokyo during the summer. 

With his contract running out next summer, the interest in Kessie is set to increase during the upcoming 12 months. 

The Latest: Contract roadblock

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Tuttomercatoweb), Kessie has rejected a contract extension from Milan worth €6.5m (£5.57m) a year. 

The Italian newspaper reported that the midfielder wants €8m (£6.86m) a year plus €2m (£1.7m) in bonuses, and Spurs are said to be keen on the midfielder, who scored 13 goals in 37 league appearances for the Rossoneri last season. 

Milan will be fearful of losing one of their key players for nothing like they did with Gianluigi Donnarumma (PSG) and Hakan Calhanoglu (Inter). 

Kessie claimed in July that he wanted to stay at Milan ‘forever’ but has now rejected a new deal with the club.

The Verdict: Perfect Box-to-Box 

Kessie’s quality has been clear to see since he arrived at the San Siro. Last season he carried an 89% pass completion per match whilst making 2.07 blocks per game. 

Spurs currently have a couple of gifted centre-midfielders in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp, but with doubts having circulated over Tanguy Ndombele’s future, the arrival of Kessie would be an added bonus to Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad. 

Former Milan striker Antonio Cassano even lauded the midfielder as “intelligent” and “devastating” earlier in the year during one of the best seasons of his career, and we will have to see whether the Lilywhites can beat the pulling power of PSG or Liverpool next summer.

Sheffield United have been dealt a major blow in their bid to keep George Baldock at Bramall Lane this summer.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a report by the Daily Mail, who claim that Olympiakos and Burnley have joined Celtic in the race for the right-back in the summer transfer window.

It is claimed that the Scottish side are keen to take the 28-year-old on a temporary basis, however, Slavisa Jokanovic would not be open to anything other than sanctioning the permanent sale of the defender this summer, with it being reported that the Blades’ are demanding a fee of around £8m in order to part with Baldock.

However, the report finishes by stating that, following the latest interest in his services, the future of the right-back appears rather uncertain heading into the final weeks of the summer market.

Jokanovic will be fuming

With it looking as if Celtic’s pursuit of Baldock had hit something of a dead-end, and subsequently Sheffield United’s chances of retaining the services of the defender for their 2021/22 Championship campaign increasing, the new interest from Olympiakos and Burnley is sure to have left the 52-year-old manager fuming.

Despite a disappointing season last time out, Baldock nevertheless proved the previous year that he is an extremely important player within the United team.

Indeed, over his 38 Premier League appearances back in 2019/20, the £4.5m-rated right-back made an average of 0.9 interceptions, 1.6 tackles, 1.8 clearances and won 4.9 duels per game.

He also impressed in an attacking capacity, scoring two goals, registering three assists and creating two big chances for his teammates, as well as making an average of 0.6 key passes per match.

These metrics saw the man Garth Crooks dubbed a “superb” player earn a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 6.83, ranking him as the Baldes’ joint 11th-best performer in the top flight of English football that season.

As such, it would very much seem as if the £26k-per-week Baldock remaining at Bramall Lane beyond the transfer deadline at the end of the month would indeed significantly improve the club’s chances of going on to secure an immediate return to the Premier League at the first time of asking, while his sale could well see the wheels fall off United’s promotion push before it has even really begun.

Chronicle Live journalist Lee Ryder has revealed when the next steps in Newcastle United’s move for Joe Willock could be completed. 

The lowdown

It emerged on Sunday night that Newcastle had agreed a fee in excess of £20m to sign the midfielder from Arsenal.

The 21-year-old spent the latter half of the 2020/21 season on loan at St James’ Park and equalled Alan Shearer’s club record of scoring in seven consecutive games at the end of the campaign.

Willock could prove to be one of the five most expensive signings in the Magpies’ history if the deal goes through – 2019 addition Joelinton currently leads the way on £39.6m.

The latest

Newcastle do still have a hurdle to overcome – agreeing personal terms with Willock. If he is indeed open to the move, he should travel to the northeast within the next 24 hours, according to Ryder.

A medical would then likely be pencilled in for the early part of the week. After that, the 21-year-old could sign on the dotted line and officially become Newcastle’s first signing of the summer.

The verdict

You’d hope that personal terms don’t prove to be a significant issue here. Willock truly came into his own on Tyneside a few months ago and his first team prospects appear far better than they are at Arsenal.

Some Newcastle fans would consider this transfer a minimum requirement, but it’s pretty exciting nonetheless. He brings unique qualities to Steve Bruce’s side, as evidenced by him matching Shearer’s long-standing record, and he should just keep getting better if he is playing regularly at the age of 21.

After an arduous summer of continued takeover delays and transfer inactivity, the Toon Army finally seem to have something to feel positive about.

يرغب روبرت ليفاندوفسكي مهاجم فريق بايرن ميونخ الألماني، في اتخاذ قرار جديد بشأن استمراره في صفوف العملاق البافاري الموسم المقبل.

ليفاندوفسكي أمامه 3 مباريات مع منتخب بلاده بولندا في دوري الأمم الأوروبية، ضد بلجيكا ثم هولندا، ومن ثم يستضيفون بلجيكا مجددًا، قبل الذهاب إلى إجازته الصيفية.
