Após cinco anos, Guarani e Ponte Preta voltaram a se enfrentar em um Dérbi campineiro. O confronto entre os dois times rivais foi o primeiro jogo da história com torcida única. E após tanto tempo de espera, o maior clássico do interior paulista teve de tudo, no Brinco de Ouro. Festa nas arquibancadas, pênalti não marcado e até máscara na comemoração. A Macaca repetiu o triunfo do último duelo realizado em 2013, derrotou o Bugre de virada por 3 a 2 em um embate equilibrado e empurrou o rival próximo da zona do rebaixamento da Série B. A Ponte Preta está na oitava colocação, com seis pontos somados. Já o Guarani ocupa a 16º posição, com apenas três pontos.

O começo da partida foi bem polêmico. Após cruzamento na área da zaga alviverde, o zagueiro Edson Silva cortou o cruzamento com o braço. O árbitro Leandro Vuaden estava próximo ao lance e marcou escanteio. No entanto, os jogadores cercaram o juiz, que foi consultar o assistente. A pressão não deu resultado e Vuaden manteve a marcação do escanteio.

A Ponte Preta tinha mais posse de bole e mostrava total domínio na partida. Porém, foi o Guarani quem saiu na frente. Bruno Nazário cobrou escanteio, o zagueiro Everton Alemão desviou de cabeça e a bola tocou no ombro de Danilo Barcelos, que acabou fazendo gol contra por infelicidade.

Mesmo com o Alviverde inaugurando o placar, a Macaca não se abalou dentro de campo e demonstrou forças para reagir. A Ponte chegava ao ataque com perigo pelo lado direito do Bugre. Danilo Barcelos levantou na área, o zagueiro Reginaldo subiu mais que a zaga bugrina e deixou o duelo tudo igual.

A partir daí, a Macaca passou a “gostar” do jogo. Três minutos depois, a equipe alvinegra virou o jogo. Em um rápido contra-ataque, Felipe Cardoso fez ligação na esquerda para Igor. O lateral achou o atacante André Luís entrando livre na área. O camisa 7 tocou na saída do goleiro Bruno Brígido e colocou a Ponte em vantagem. Na comemoração, André Luís colocou a máscara de gorila e provocou o rival. O ponte-pretano relembrou o feito de Dário Gigena, quando o argentino fez três gols no Dérbi de 2003.

A Ponte Preta teve duas grandes chances de aumentar a vantagem antes de acabar o primeiro tempo, mas o arqueiro bugrino impediu os tentos assinalados. O Guarani até tentou esbocar uma reação, porém não teve forças para furar o bloqueio do rival.

A primeira chegada no segundo tempo foi do Bugre. Bruno Mendes encontrou Erik livre na esquerda, mas o goleiro Ivan fez a defesa. Tiago Real poderia ter ampliado o resultado, mas o arqueiro Bruno Brígido voltou a ter trabalho.

Danilo Barcelos, que fez gol contra no início do jogo, voltou a aparecer para a Ponte. O meia cruzou na área e viu Andrés Luís, sem marcação na área. O atacante não desperdiçou a chance e aumentou o placar no Brinco de Ouro.

O Guarani criava pouco na partida. O técnico Umberto Louzer recorreu a Rafael Longuine e Anselmo Ramon. As entradas dos jogadores nos lugares de Erik e Bruno Mendes, surtiram efeitos. Bruno Nazário levantou na área, Anselmo Ramon ajeitou para Longuine, que foi puxado pelo zagueiro Renan Fonseca. Vuaden estava de frente para o lance e marcou pênalti. Rondinelly foi para a cobrança e descontou para o Guarani. A torcida do Guarani foi ao delírio.

No fim da partida, a Ponte Preta apertou a marcação e o Bugre mostrava nervosisimo para furar o bloqueio do time alvinegro. O lateral Lenon até tentou assustar com chute de fora da área, mas a bola passou por cima do goleiro Ivan. Felipe Cardoso teve a chance de marcar o quarto para a Ponte na partida, mas o arqueiro bugrino impediu que a vitória se transformasse em goleada.

Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir have been banned for 10, 7 and 5 years respectively after an ICC tribunal found them guilty of spot-fixing stemming from the Lord’s Test against England last year. The sanctions against Butt and Asif have five and two years suspended, which means that the trio cannot play any official, sanctioned cricket, international or domestic, for a minimum of five years, until September 2015.The suspended sentences on Butt and Asif have been made conditional on their making no further breaches of the code and participating in an anti-corruption education programme, under the auspices of the PCB.Butt, who was captain during the series in England, received the maximum sentence but one charge against him – of batting out a maiden over during the Oval Test – was dismissed. However, he was found to have not disclosed an approach by Majeed that he should bat the maiden over. The other charges that were upheld relate to the subsequent Lord’s Test, where Amir and Asif were found to have bowled deliberate no-balls and Butt was penalized for being party to that. Amir will appeal against the decision to the Court of Arbitration Sports, but the other two players have not yet said whether they will.The announcement on Saturday evening followed a day of deliberations in Doha between the three-man tribunal – comprising the head Michael Beloff QC, Sharad Rao and Justice Albie Sachs – the players and their legal teams and the ICC’s lawyers. The three players began the day requesting the tribunal for a deferral of any verdict, in light of the statement on Friday by the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) that the players might also face criminal charges relating to the Lord’s Test as the result of a separate investigation carried out by British police. The players, who continued to maintain their innocence, argued that a judgment today by the tribunal could be prejudicial to any criminal trial in the UK, but the request was rejected.The length of the sentences may be considered surprising to the extent that at least one life ban had been predicted beforehand. Now, in theory, the 26-year-old Butt could return after five years if he complies with the conditions of the verdict. Amir, who will only turn 19 in April, could also conceivably harbour hopes of a return, though in practical terms a five-year gap from any competitive cricket makes the prospect of a return that much more difficult. The situation is most bleak for Asif, who will be 33 by the time the minimum five years are up.It must also be noted that not until the full judgment is released will the picture become fully clear, especially with regards to the nature of the rehabilitation programme they must undertake and the role the PCB will have in that. The tribunal asked the ICC to publish the full judgment as soon as possible and it is expected to happen tomorrow. The question, however, of whether or not the full judgment may be deemed prejudicial to any criminal proceedings in the UK still looms.A member of the ICC legal team told ESPNcricinfo that it is “very happy with the fact that the players were convicted.” But given that the governing body was pushing for maximum sanctions, there will be at least a tinge of disappointment within the governing body.The tribunal also recommended that the ICC make “certain changes to the code with a view to providing flexibility in relation to minimum sentences in exceptional circumstances.” The lawyers of Butt and Amir later said that the tribunal would’ve given lower punishments had their hands not “been tied” to the code’s range of sanctions., the tabloid that broke the spot-fixing story this summer, released a statement of its own, saying that “it is now clear to everyone in the game that corruption will not be tolerated,” and added that it will continue to assist the police in any way it can.A number of Pakistani fans waited outside the Qatar Financial Centre, some for the entire nine-hour duration of the proceedings, and gave vociferous support to the players when they eventually came out. Amir, in fact, was mobbed and had to return inside the building briefly.

Manchester United have joined the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s 22-year-old centre-back Evan N’Dicka.

What’s the word?

That is according to a report from Sport Bild, via Manchester Evening News, which claimed that the Frenchman has caught the eye of the Red Devils, who are keen on adding a central defender to their ranks this summer.

With N’Dicka’s contract expiring at the end of next season, it is said that Frankfurt will look to cash in on him whilst they still can. It is believed that a fee of €20m (£17.1m) will be enough to prise the starlet from the clutches of the Europa League finalists.

Maguire’s successor

Featuring in 94% of Frankfurt’s Bundesliga season, the 22-year-old – who has been described by journalist Jacque Talbot as a “towering” presence at 6 foot 4 – has enjoyed a prosperous campaign which has seen him become a mainstay at the heart of the Eintracht defence.

With an average of 12.4 pressures and 2.34 blocks per game, N’Dicka has registered elite numbers in comparison to positionally similar players in Europe’s top five leagues over the past year, as per FBRef.

Speaking of positionally similar players, being a natural left-footed centre-back with astonishing numbers in-possession (more on that later), he automatically poses a threat to Harry Maguire’s spot in the starting XI.

With Raphael Varane a natural right footer, Erik ten Hag would surely prefer the partnership of N’Dicka and Varane over N’Dicka and Maguire.

Remember N’Dicka’s match average of 12.4 pressures per game? Maguire registers around half of this total with 6.26 pressure per 90 and also loses out to N’Dicka’s average of 2.34 blocks, with the Englishman registering an average of 1.42 per game.

The best thing about N’Dicka is that he brings solidity at the back whilst driving his team forward in possession. He is fearless, achieving around 6.91 passes under pressure per 90.

With the caveat that he plays as a left-sided centre-back in a back-three, and is given licence to overlap, N’Dicka boasts some serious attacking numbers – having delivered four goals and four assists for Frankfurt in the Bundesliga this season – eight goal contributions as a centre-back!

With an average of 0.75 shot-creating actions per 90 and total match average of 1.06 carries into the final third, the 22-year-old is extremely well-rounded, with his defensive participations not faltering to this attacking display. Instead, N’Dicka makes his challenges high-up the pitch, with 0.85 of his 2.05 total tackles coming in the middle third of the pitch.

As a natural left-footed defender with a lot of potential and a fearless nature in possession, Evan N’Dicka could form a formidable French partnership with Varane at the heart of the United defence.

However, with the 22-year-old used to operating in a back-three, he would need time to adapt into a two-man partnership, with his attacking contributions bound to take a hit in the process.

Sem Juan, Carpegiani vai apostar em um defesa jovem com Thuler e Léo Duarte. Rhodolfo e Réver são outros dois que não vão viajar com a delegação. De contrato recém-renovado, o jovem Patrick é quem vai ficar como opção para a defesa no banco de reservas. Ele prolongou seu vínculo com o Flamengo até 2023, recentemente.

According to reports, the Irons and manager David Moyes have had potential full-back options in mind amid their search for a striker and centre-half recently.

The Latest: Hammers eyeing Aina…

The 21-cap Nigeria international has also impressed at AFCON, attracting the attention of Newman and West Ham, and it is believed Torino chiefs have ‘opened talks’ with Aina and his entourage over a possible exit this summer.

The Verdict: Get it done?

Vladimir Coufal, who turns 30 soon, is a great short term option at right-back but the Hammers may have to start thinking about who succeeds the Czech long-term.

Aina, who’s been called ‘quality’ by Torino boss Ivan Juric, may well be the perfect man for the job going by his age (25) and potential for sell-on value as a result.

Given he is entering the final year of his contract in July, West Ham could even hold a major advantage in negotiations and sign the player for a cut-price fee, potentially then getting the prime years out of the player before selling for a profit.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly now enquired over the possibility of signing Benjamin Mensah in the January transfer window.

The Lowdown: Right wing-back wanted

It is no secret that Spurs are targeting a new right wing-back this month, with Adama Traore the most prominent name to be sounded out as a potential signing.

Matt Doherty has been heavily linked with a move back to Wolves, which would leave Antonio Conte a little light in that position, while Emerson Royal has not exactly impressed since his summer move, registering just one assist in 14 Premier League appearances from the right flank.

Thus, it is an area of the pitch that they will look to strengthen before the window closes.

The Latest: Mensah enquiry

As per Sky Sports (13 Jan, 12:46), the Lilywhites have now made an enquiry to Peterborough United about Mensah, who can play as a right wing-back as well as on the right of a traditional back four.

He would go straight into their U23 set-up, although there are a number of other clubs interested in his signature, so it’s not a done deal yet.

Mensah made his debut for the Posh in a 2-1 win at home to Cambridge United in the EFL Trophy back in 2019 at just 16 years of age, and went on to play in three more games in the tournament.

The Verdict: Preparing for first team

It will be good for the North London club to get in a player for the U23s who can play as a right wing-back, so that they can play a system that would best prepare them for the first team under Conte.

Of course, Mensah is one for the future, but the 19-year-old will have aspirations of breaking into the first team should he perform well – there aren’t exactly a whole host of world-class options in front of him.

Nonetheless, having made his senior debut at such a young age, he is certainly heading in the right direction, and could well turn out to be a gem that can be unearthed at Hotspur Way.

Até o momento, a equipe colecionou frustrações, como a eliminação na fase de grupos da Copa Libertadores, a campanha abaixo da média no Brasileiro e a perda do título da Copa do Brasil.

Um turbilhão bem parecido com uma final do Rubro-Negro com o Independiente que está na “garganta” da Nação. Era 6 de dezembro de 1995. O Flamengo, que completara 100 anos de fundação, entrava em campo, pressionado, para, na decisão da Supercopa Libertadores “salvar” o ano.

Contratado a peso de ouro, o time perdeu Carioca para o “time de operários do Fluminense”, viu o rebaixamento de perto no Brasileiro, e o “Ataque dos Sonhos” formado por Sávio, Romário e Edmundo não funcionou. Além disto, o “Animal” estava de saída e vivia momentos pessoais conturbados, após se envolver em um acidente de carro que causou a morte de três pessoas.

– Embora entre nós, o ambiente fosse bom, a gente sofria cobrança muito grande. o Flamengo investiu muito, e, depois da perda do título para o Fluminense, a responsabilidade ficava maior. Era muita confiança no “Ataque dos Sonhos”, e a gente, que era mais novo, também ficava mais tenso – recordou Rodrigo Mendes, ao LANCE!.

Mas, com muita garra, o Rubro-Negro comandado por Washington Rodrigues foi galgando espaços e chegou à decisão contra o Independiente. Com a boa campanha e os ingressos a preço baixo, mais de 100 mil pessoas abarrotaram o Maracanã:

– Nós vínhamos de uma campanha realmente muito boa. Tinham sido seis vitórias até o jogo de ida da final. Contra o Independiente, tomamos um gol aos 50 segundos, eles se fecharam e, em um contra-ataque, fizeram o segundo gol! A gente sabia que ia ser muito difícil – recordou Sávio, ao LANCE!.

O Rubro-Negro entrou em campo com sua postura ofensiva amplificada, Pouco antes de o jogo começar, Washington Rodrigues anunciou que Nélio atuaria fora de sua posição de origem. O objetivo era, ao lado de Marquinhos e Rodrigo Mendes (à época, só Rodrigo), municiar ainda mais Sávio e Romário:

– A ideia do Apolinho (Washington Rodrigues) e do Arthur Bernardes (assistente) era que eu jogasse como ala. A gente jogava com três zagueiros, e o Apolinho queria que eu fizesse o mesmo que em 1992, de ir para frente e voltar para marcar – relembrou o ex-meia, ao LANCE!.

ETAPA INICIAL DE AMPLO DOMÍNIO, E MUITA DIFICULDADE

Lançando-se ao ataque, o Flamengo teve boas chances em finalizações de Cláudio e Djair. Mas, com o passar do tempo, a equipe esbarrou em dificuldades. Com o Independiente fortalecido na marcação, os avanços vinham dos pés de Sávio.

O atacante buscava jogadas individuais mas, à medida que tentava sair da marcação, sofria com seguidas faltas.

– A gente estava muito bem, mas o Independiente era um time muito bom. E é muito difícil de inverter um resultado de 2 a 0 de times argentinos,

Romário, bem marcado, não teve chances claras. Após o empate sem gols se manter nos 45 minutos iniciais, o tempo para buscar o título ficaria ainda mais reduzido.

‘CARTADA’ DE APOLINHO LEVA A GOL, PRESSÃO… E FRUSTRAÇÃO

Após o intervalo, Washington Rodrigues fez uma mudança: tirou o zagueiro Cláudio e lançou ao atacante Aloísio Chulapa. Era a senha de que o Flamengo tinha de partir para cima de vez:

– Foi essa ordem, de ir para frente, tomando cuidado para não levar gols. Do mesmo jeito que a gente foi em toda nossa campanha. Tinha sido assim que conseguimos ganhar de times fortes como o Vélez Sarsifield e o Nacional-URU, na casa deles e no Rio – afirmou Sávio.

Após jogada com Sávio e Marquinhos, o jovem Rodrigo Mendes obrigou Mondragón a se desdobrar para salvar.

– A gente sabia do nosso poder ofensivo. Tinha o Romário, que era campeão do mundo, o Sávio… Aí, a gente foi com tudo para frente, eram mais de 100 mil pessoas nos empurrando. Foram muitas chances nossas! – relembrou Rodrigo Mendes.

O goleiro colombiano ainda se desdobrou em cabeçada de Aloísio Chulapa. E, após muita pressão, a torcida do Flamengo comemorou aos 17 minutos.

No rebote de tentativa de Aloísio Chulapa, Sávio encheu o pé e Bustos salvou em cima da linha. Na sobra, Romário, fulminante, abriu o marcador: 1 a 0, e o sonho do título da Supercopa Libertadores continuava.

– A bola sobrou para mim, eu chutei com tudo e um cara tirou em cima da linha! O Romário veio quase de fora da área e conseguiu fazer.

Mas, nem tudo foi festa após o gol. Em meio à confusão entre jogadores de Flamengo e Independiente para pegar a bola e reiniciar a partida, Nélio e Domizzi discutiram e foram expulsos:

– Na confusão pela bola, um cara tinha deixado um jogador nosso caído. Eu vinha também quente. Aí, a gente (ele e Domizzi, do Independiente) se desentendeu e nós acabamos expulsos – recordou Nélio.

O Rubro-Negro tentou seguir seu ímpeto, e teve nova chance quando Romário recebeu aos 29. Só que o Baixinho desperdiçou.

– Eles se fecharam ao máximo, não deram quase nenhum chute a gol. Tanto que o melhor deles foi Mondragón! – lamentou Sávio.

O INDEPENDIENTE COMEMORA, E O FLA CELEBRA A SUA LUTA

A equipe seguiu toda na área do Independiente, mas, desordenadamente, não chegou ao segundo gol. Restou sair de campo com a insuficiente vitória por 1 a 0. No apito final, enquanto o “Rey de Copas” celebrava, o Flamengo era “acolhido” por sua torcida:

– Foi um momento de tristeza no Maracanã. A gente sabia que tinha de fazer o melhor possível, e lutou tanto que não saiu vaiado naquela noite. A torcida sabia do nosso esforço! – contou Nélio.

Sávio também disse que a maneira como a Nação “recepcionou” o Rubro-Negro serviu como um alento para a final da Supercopa Libertadores e o ano de 1995.

– A torcida sabia da nossa dedicação, do quanto a gente buscou aquele título. Tanto que nós fomos aplaudidos ao final do jogo, pela maneira como a gente se empenhou. Foi um ano muito maluco, em que perdemos títulos por detalhes, o “gol de barriga” no Carioca, essa partida na Supercopa…

Rodrigo Mendes foi outro jogador que reconheceu que as lembranças do centenário poderiam ser bem diferentes:

– Aquele título ia ser uma redenção não só pelo ano do centenário do clube. O Flamengo não conquistava um título internacional há muito tempo.

EX-ÍDOLOS FAZEM COMPARAÇÕES ENTRE FLA DE 1995 E O FLA DE 2017

Aos olhos dos jogadores que disputaram a final da Supercopa de 1995, o atual Flamengo passa por alguns desafios semelhantes àquela decisão:

– O desafio é jogar com paciência. Em finais como estas, é preciso ter sabedoria, para que o Flamengo saiba jogar da melhor forma e mostrar seu potencial – opinou Nélio.

Sávio diz que esta equipe tem algo em comum com o elenco que entrou em campo em 6 de dezembro de 1995:

– Assim como em 1995, esta final é vista como chance de “salvar o ano”. O clube também passou por um forte investimento, e agora tem de honrar isto. Desta vez, o Flamengo tem mais chances, porque precisa inverter um placar menor e não tem o critério de ‘gol fora”.
