Aston Villa boss Dean Smith must avoid selling Morgan Sanson this summer as fresh transfer reports emerge over his potential exit.

What’s the story?

It’s been a rather frustrating first few months in English football for the January signing, making just nine appearances in the Premier League and that too only totalling 291 minutes worth of football.

Reports in recent days have suggested that Smith isn’t convinced by his midfield options, and that amid a potential move for Southampton and England star James Ward-Prowse, Villa are unimpressed by what Sanson has shown thus far.

And now, former Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has said: “I don’t see why they wouldn’t sell him if he’s not producing. It’s only six months and sometimes you’ve got to give players a little bit more time. Not everyone settles well in this country.

“But if they are interested in a couple more midfielders then that could be a sign. There’s no shame in cutting your losses and moving on. People make mistakes. You’re never going to get every signing spot-on.”

Fans would be fuming

Speaking after his signing back in the January transfer window, Smith waxed lyrical about the kind of qualities the Frenchman could bring, saying: “He has got a big game mentality, he has played at the top of the French league for the last five years, played in the Champions League.

“He is a great technician and has great tactical awareness. He can play in a number of positions, can set up goals and can score goals. He has a bit of everything in his game so we’re really pleased with the acquisition.”Dubbed as a “warrior” by himself, the £17m-rated Sanson showed his qualities as a really effective box-to-box presence in his time at Marseille.Before his move to the Midlands, he averaged an impressive 1.8 tackles and 1.1 key passes per game in Ligue 1, both of which ranked him favourably compared to the rest of Villa’s squad. In fact, only two other players have averaged more tackles per match than him, while again, only three other have averaged more key passes too.Given that he only arrived in January, and had his fair share of injury issues too, there’s no questioning that Villa fans and Smith have yet to see the best of Sanson.It would be a ridiculous decision for the Midlands club to sell him so soon after his arrival, and without having first properly given him a chance to shine.It would be an admittance that they got it completely wrong in the transfer market back in January, and would be a very hasty mistake. Nos últimos meses o presidente perdeu diretores em diversas áreas, como futebol, jurídico e categorias de base, e viu seus dois vices, André Luiz Oliveira e Jorge Kalil, se afastarem. Nos 20 dias de ausência do mandatário para um período de férias nos Estados Unidos, André Negão voltou à rotina do Parque São Jorge e convocou e realizou reuniões para discutir o futuro do clube.

– Os motivos (da saída) já foram falados, são motivos pessoais. Já era para ter ocorrido neste ano, e agora resolvemos fazer o que eu tenho de fazer a nível de família. – Sim, claro (que pode ir a outro clube). O ano que vem são 12 meses. Mas no começo não – disse, antes de admitir que até sentiu vontade de ficar para a Libertadores no Verdão.

Celtic have agreed a deal to sign the 20-year-old, who is set to join up with his teammates at Lennoxtown for the first time this summer.

The Sheffield Wednesday youngster has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in England, playing in a multitude of positions. He can feature at centre-back but he also looks at home playing in midfield and using his long levers to stride forward.

Comfortable in possession and full of energy, his box to box style could completely reinvigorate this Celtic team.

He is adept in the air, winning 1.7 aerial duels per game but he also knows how to pick a pass and beat a man.

For instance, against Rotherham this year, he completed three key passes and four dribbles as Wednesday lost 2-1.

With Brown walking through the exit door this summer, the last thing they need to do is replace him with another ageing player. By utilising Shaw, it could breathe fresh life into a decrepit starting XI.

In a similar way to Ajer, he loves to burst forward, something we saw in the FA Cup earlier this season against Exeter.

He galloped beyond the halfway line in lung-busting fashion from centre-half before dancing past his marker on the right flank and fashioning a goal. It was a piece of play that The Mirror’s James Whaling said was “sensational.â€

Blessed with tremendous stamina and non-stop energy, McKay will need to urge the new management team to faze Shaw into proceedings as soon as possible.

بعد الهزيمة في المباراة الأولى، في رأيك هل الهلال قادر على تصحيح المسار رغم صعوبة المباراتين المقبلتين أمام الأهلي والمريخ؟

– “نعم، أعتقد أن جميع الفرق ستخسر في تلك المجموعة، لقد خسرنا مباراة ولكنها مرحلة لتجميع النقاط في النهاية وليست إقصائية بالمباريات، لقد خسرنا الأولى رغم عدم رغبتنا في ذلك، لا تزال هناك 5 مباريات أخرى وسنقاتل في نفس طريقنا مثل جميع المنافسين للتأهل إلى دور الثمانية”.

– “كما أخبرتك من قبل نحن سنستعد جيدًا للمباريات المقبلة، لدينا لاعبين شباب ومميزين وقادرين على تحقيق نتائج جيدة، رغم أن الأهلي وصن داونز يشاركان في دوري بالفعل ويخوضون الكثير من المباريات، وهناك تأقلم بين اللاعبين كذلك الفارق بين القدرات المالية والرواتب التي يتحصلون عليها، ولكن كرة القدم رياضة مختلفة وإذا كنت فريقًا منظمًا وتدرس خصمك جيدًا قد نستطيع تحقيق ما نهدف إليه”.

– “نعم، تابعت الأهلي في تلك البطولة، بالطبع فريق جيد للغاية لأنه حامل اللقب، ولكن كما أقول دائما كل مباراة مختلفة عن الأخرى في كرة القدم، لا شيء مضمون، عليك أن تبذل قصارى جهدك من أجل الفوز، هناك فريقان سيقاتلان”.

– “مباراة الهلال السعودي ليست مقياس لكل شيء، لأنه كان هناك هدفين وطردين للفريق المنافس، كانت هناك بعض الصراعات الثنائية في الملعب التي خسرها الأهلي، ولن تكون تلك المباراة هي الوحيدة التي سندرس بها الأهلي قبل مباراة الجمعة، ولذلك لا أهتم كثيرا بمباراة الهلال السعودي رغم فوز الأهلي برباعية نظيفة”.

الأهلي يأتي بمعنويات مرتفعة من كأس العالم للأندية 2021، هل هذا سيضاعف من صعوبة مهمة الهلال في الفوز؟

– “فوز الأهلي ٤-٠، لن يغير أي شيء من استعداداتنا للمباراة وخطة الهلال أو تقلل من حوافزنا، ستكون مباراة مختلفة من حيث اللاعبين والأجواء، وربما يكون الأهلي حذر هو الآخر من المباراة، لا أعلم بماذا يفكرون ولكن بالتأكيد هي مباراة مهمة”.

– “سنلعب مباراة هجومية، لست من المدربين المحبين للكرة الدفاعية، لكني أفضل التوازن عندما نفقد الكرة ندافع بقوة وعندما نستحوذ عليها يجب أن نهاجم، لأنك إذا لم تمتلك الكرة لن تفوز”.

– “هذا هو أسلوبنا الذي نفكر به في جميع مبارياتنا وليس أمام الأهلي فقط، ربما لن نفوز في أي مباراة ولكن سنقاتل من أجل ذلك وليس التعادل لأن الجماهير تستحق ذلك، لقد خسرنا أول ثلاث نقاط ولكن سنحاول تعويضها، مباراة الأهلي ستكون صعبة جدا ولديه مدرب قوي ولاعبين مميزين ونحترمهم جدا، لكني أهتم أكثر بلاعبي الهلال وتجهيزهم وتقديم أفضل ما لدينا”.

The former Bristol Rovers man, who incidentally joined the Posh as Toney’s replacement, has managed to outscore his predecessor, hitting 25 goals in 37 league appearances so far this season.

Toney managed 24 goals in 32 league appearances last term before the season was ended early due to the current viral outbreak, and completed a move to Championship side Brentford last summer despite reported interest from Rangers.

The 25-year-old has gone on to enjoy a superb campaign with the Bees and has been the driving force behind their promotion push, contributing 28 goals and nine assists in just 36 Championship appearances this season.

Therefore, it seems fair to suggest that Toney would have been a hit in Gerrard’s side this season and that Wilson made an error in not bringing him to Ibrox.

Their reported interest in Clarke-Harris looks to be the ideal second chance for Wilson this summer and he should avoid making the same mistake again, as the Englishman could prove to be an excellent addition to Gerrard’s squad.

Will Celtic ever find themselves a new manager? That’s the question on the lips of many a Hoops supporter around the globe right now.

The Parkhead faithful are imminently awaiting any announcement and one could be upon us sooner rather than later.

What’s the word?

The main man when it comes to Celtic managerial talk in recent weeks has been Eddie Howe. Roy Keane was the favourite before he was quickly usurped by the Englishman.

Howe is a free agent after leaving Bournemouth last year and is thought to have held discussions with Celtic and Dermot Desmond over moving to Paradise, but a number of obstacles have fallen in their path. One of the biggest roadblocks is the rumours of a move to Crystal Palace, where he is on a three-man shortlist to replace Roy Hodgson.

That being said, new information suggests that those links could be a red herring, with Howe still expected to arrive in Glasgow.

Speaking on Clyde 1, Scottish Daily Mail reporter Stephen McGowan said this week: “The two sides seem more relaxed about it than the fans are. He met Dermot Desmond two weeks ago in London, there was an expectation things might move quickly because he’s out of work but that hasn’t happened, but there might be reasons for that.”

McGowan continued: “Fans are threatened that he’s using Celtic as a bargaining tool with Crystal Palace. I think that’s a bit of a red herring, personally. وأضاف: “حكم اللقاء محمد الصباحي كان يريد أن يداري على خطأ باهر المحمدي باحتساب ركلة جزاء للأهلي”.

وأردف: “تقنية الفار لم تطالب الحكم بالحضور لمشاهدة ركلة الجزاء، أريد من الحكم أن يجلس مع نفسه هو ولجنة الحكام ويشاهدوا اللعبة”.

وتابع: “أرى ان الحكم كان يريد صنع توازن بين الفريقين، وهذا الكلام كان غير صحيح، احتساب الصباحي لركلة جزاء الأهلي كان من أجل إرضاء الخصم وجماهيره”.

واستكمل: “الإسماعيلي قدم مباراة جيدة جدًا وكنا أكثر خطورة على مرمى الأهلي، وهذا كله كان غير موجود في المباريات الأخيرة”.

واستطرد: “ألوم على معلق المباراة الذي كان يعلق لجمهور الأهلي فقط، هذه ليست عدالة، الأهلي سيظل يفوز بكل البطولات لغياب العدالة، وإذا كنتم تريدون أن يفوز الأهلي باستمرار أقترح عليكم إقامة دوري خاص للأهلي فقط ليفوز به، مع إقامة دوري آخر للفرق (الغلابة) الأخرى”.
