Uma equação desfavorável prejudicou o fluxo de caixa do Santos. O Santos correu o risco de ser retirado doPROFUT (Programa de refinanciamento de dívidas), que exige como contrapartida a responsabilidade fiscal dos clubes de futebol. Os R$ 18 milhões pagos em março são referentes à retenção de IRRF (Imposto de renda retido na fonte), algo que poderia caracterizar apropriação indébita, crime previsto no artigo 168 do Código Penal Brasileiro.

Em contato com a reportagem, o ex-presidente Modesto admitiu o problema. Em entrevista à Gazeta Esportiva, publicada no último domingo em matéria sobre o tema, o ex-dirigente havia negado a dívida. A tendência é que o assunto seja discutido na próxima reunião do Conselho Deliberativo do Peixe, em 26 de março. Modesto corre o risco de sofrer punições.

Their troubles began in Bangalore yesterday as fog made them miss their connecting flight to Vadodara from Mumbai, they didn’t know at what ground they were playing, and their problems were capped by captain Vinay Kumar missing today’s practice with poor health.Having to catch an early morning flight on New Year’s day is generally among the tougher things in life, and then having that flight delayed by three hours makes things worse. The agony gets compounded when the delay means you miss your connecting plane, and have to spend the entire day idling in the lounge of the busiest airport in the country. By the time the Karnataka team reached Vadodara late in the evening, after an almost nine-hour delay, they were understandably bleary-eyed and drained of energy. As if the fact that they had lost an entire day of practice was not enough, more irritation was coming their way. They soon found that there was no parking space outside their hotel for the team bus, which meant the players could not get off the vehicle. That was the last straw on a rough day, and they sped away to another hotel in disgust.All this while, Karnataka were under the impression that they were playing at the Moti Bagh Stadium, Baroda’s regular first-class venue, where the hosts have played all their four home games this season, including the recent quarter-final against Railways. But they found, through unofficial channels, that the semi-final had been shifted to the Reliance Stadium (the erstwhile IPCL Ground) instead. “It is a total surprise. We had no clue that we were to play at the IPCL ground,” a Karnataka source told ESPNcricinfo. “And what’s more, no one from our state association cared to inform us. Nos três principais campeonatos estaduais, foi o dia da virada. Corinthians, Botafogo e Cruzeiro saíram de situações adversas e se sagraram campeões. Palmeiras, Vasco e Atlético-MG trocaram a euforia dos que estavam com a mão na taça pela amargura das reclamações. A arbitragem, claro, foi a culpada. No Allianz Parque, um pênalti que o juiz marcou erradamente e depois voltou atrás provocou a fúria dos palmeirenses. No Maracanã, a expulsão de Fabrício ainda no primeiro tempo, sem ter cartão amarelo, irritou os vascaínos. Uma situação parecida com a do Mineirão onde Otero também foi expulso na etapa inicial, o que, segundo os atleticanos, acabou interferindo na derrota. Mas nos três casos, dessa vez, as críticas foram exageradas, os juízes pagaram a pato injustamente. Foram meros bodes expiatórios de derrotas marcadas pela imprevisibilidade do futebol ou a incompetência de reagir em campo.

Até que se prove que houve interferência externa – o que o regulamento não permite – a atitude do juiz Marcelo Aparecido Ribeiro de Souza, não teve nada de errado, ontem na decisão paulista. Ele escreveu na súmula que o quarto árbitro, Adriano de Assis Miranda, tentou informá-lo que não houve pênalti de Ralf sobre Dudu imediatamente após a marcação. Alega, porém, que demorou a entender a mensagem devido ao barulho da torcida e ao fato de estar cercado por jogadores. Em nota, a federação diz que ele tomou a atitude correta. O presidente do Palmeiras não achou: “Um campeonato jogado no lixo. Vergonha”, disparou Maurício Galliote, que chamou o estadual de “paulistinha”. Um discurso destemperado de quem perdeu. Foi ironizado pelo rival Andres Sanchez: “Até a semifinal o Paulista era bom”. A sede da FPF foi atacada após o jogo. Um escudo do Corinthians na fachada foi arrancado, carros e vidraças foram apedrejados. Tudo isso, vale lembrar, poderia ser evitado se houvesse o árbitro de vídeo. Ficaria claro – e os telões do estádio mostrariam para todo mundo – se Ralf derrubou ou não Dudu. E, de quebra, eliminaria-se a suspeita de que houve consulta à TV para que a marcação do pênalti fosse anulada. Até quando a resistência vai continuar?
