Ele recusou a proposta e continua no Cruzeiro.

– O termômetro da alegria do time é o Thiago Neves.

A nova diretoria entendeu minha situação.

Durham allrounder Ian Blackwell shone with bat and ball as Durham ended daytwo of an enthralling County Championship match against Lancashire at OldTrafford with the clear advantage. The left-armer took five wickets to help bowl the hosts out for 181 before topscoring with 65 off 67 balls as they responded with 237 on day two. But veteran Red Rose left arm spinner Gary Keedy, playing only his second match of the season following a broken collarbone, kept his side in the hunt with a career best 7 for 68 from 21.2.Lancashire, starting their second innings with a deficit of 56, then reached 22for two from eleven overs, meaning 18 wickets fell in the day. At the start of the day, Lancashire could only add another 50 runs for the loss of six first-innings wickets this morning after starting the day on 131 for 4.Blackwell and Steve Harmison shared the wickets, finishing with 5 for 78from 23.2 and 3 for 27 from 18 respectively. Mark Chilton, who had hit 68 on day one, could only add one more run to his overnight score. His innings lasted 134 balls.Gareth Cross was trapped lbw three balls into the day by Blackwell, as wasChilton four overs later, while Luke Sutton holed out to Dale Benkenstein atlong-on off Blackwell to end the innings. Harmison had Glen Chapple caught at second slip by Di Venuto, while Sajid Mahmood and Simon Kerrigan were both trapped lbw. After Durham slipped to 41 for 3, Blackwell shared in partnerships of 83and 45 for the fourth and fifth wickets with Benkenstein and Ben Stokes, both ofwhom scored 32. Liam Plunkett and Scott Borthwick later shared a crucial eighth-wicket stand of51 after Durham had lost three wickets for six runs to fall from 169 for 4 to175 for 7 in the 40th.Keedy had Gordon Muchall caught behind by Sutton and trapped Mark Stoneman lbwjust after lunch. He then bowled Blackwell, who did not offer a shot, and then had Phil Mustardcaught at first slip off a top edged sweep within three balls in the 37th over. He then wrapped up the Durham innings when he had Borthwick caught at slip by Paul Horton, Mitch Claydon caught at mid on by Shivnarine Chanderpaul and bowled Plunkett.Keedy’s previous best was seven for 95 against Gloucestershire here in 2004.Fellow left armer Kerrigan, Mahmood and Chapple also struck. And Keedy then ended the day at the crease as nightwatchman because the hosts lost openers Horton and Tom Smith to fall to 10 for 2.Horton was caught behind by Mustard down the leg side off Claydon and Smithedged Harmison to Di Venuto at second slip. Keedy and Chilton will resumetomorrow morning.

Newcastle player ratings vs Wolves

Newcastle United managed to scrape a narrow 1-0 win at home to Wolves in the Premier League on Friday night, despite the visitors dominating the ball.

Offensively, the hosts did manage to record 12 shots on goal compared to the Wanderers’ five, but both sides were largely wasteful in attack in an underwhelming encounter.

As such, The Transfer Tavern have now used statistical experts SofaScore to analyse who the three worst performers (to have played at least 45 minutes) were for the North East club at St. James’ Park, should these men be worried after their chances under Eddie Howe?

Miguel Almiron

Given a 6.6 rating, Almiron, who had to come on in the 13th minute for the injured Ryan Fraser, ranked as the Tyneside outfit’s third-worst player on the night.

The Paraguay international lost out on four of his duels, and also failed to record a single shot on target, accurate cross or long ball, giving possession away six times in total.

Linked with a move away this summer and starting just 13 times in the league, might this have been the pacy attacker’s last chance to impress?

Matt Targett

Targett was ranked as the Magpies’ second-worst performer with a 6.5 overall rating.

The left-back lost eight duels, and made no successful dribbles, clearances or key passes, while he was also dribbled past a team-high three times.

He lost the ball on no fewer than on 20 separate occasions in total, the joint-second most out of any player on the pitch, but one would think he’s done enough this year to convince Howe to sign him permanently.

Allan Saint-Maximin

With a 6.4 rating, Saint-Maximin ranked as the Toon’s worst player on the night.

The French winger was unsuccessful in a staggering 15 of his individual duels, by far the most out of any player, while he also failed to score with his four shots at goal, and managed no key passes or accurate crosses.

Dribbled past twice, Saint-Maximin was also guilty of giving the ball away 23 times, again the most of any player on the pitch, in what was a disappointing night for the fan favourite winger.

Anderson's blue-sky thinking

James Anderson believes that his final-day showing at The Oval, in which he produced a fast and threatening display under cloudless skies and with a 25-over old ball, will help to convince the doubters that he has what it takes to succeed in adverse condi

Andrew Miller at Lord's25-Aug-2010James Anderson believes that his final-day showing at The Oval, in which he produced a fast and threatening display under cloudless skies and with a 25-over old ball, will help to convince the doubters that he has what it takes to succeed in adverse conditions in Australia this winter. Although England went on to lose the match by four wickets, Anderson’s tenacity in defending a meagre target of 148 was particularly timely as the team’s thoughts begin to turn to the Ashes in November.Anderson, 28, has been the pick of England’s bowlers this summer, claiming 29 wickets in five Tests against Bangladesh and Pakistan, including a career-best haul of 11 for 71 in the first Test against Pakistan at Trent Bridge last month. But whereas his prodigious ability to make the ball swing has been assisted by overcast conditions for much of the summer, it wasn’t until the sun came out at The Oval that he was forced to rely on his less celebrated traits of stamina and accuracy. In tandem with Graeme Swann, England made Pakistan battle for every run as they stretched a seemingly routine run-chase well into the afternoon session.”There was a period there when they were on 16 to win for quite a few overs, and we all believed we could cause an upset,” Anderson told Cricinfo’s Switch Hit podcast. “Unfortunately it didn’t happen for us, but we gave it everything we could that day, and to be honest we probably didn’t have enough runs to defend. But I’m delighted with the way it’s gone for me this summer. I’ve made use of some helpful conditions along the way, but also when the ball hasn’t been swinging, like at The Oval, I’ve still done quite well.”Andrew Strauss’s tactics in that final innings came under some fire as Anderson was initially asked to bowl in the channel outside off stump to stymie Pakistan’s flow of runs. But a magnificent outswinging yorker to the well-set Mohammad Yousuf signalled a change of emphasis, and also highlighted Anderson’s greater reliability as an attacking bowler who can also be trusted to keep a cap on the scoring rate – as demonstrated by a current series economy rate of 2.30, the lowest of any of the specialist quick bowlers on either side.Anderson attributes that greater reliability to two factors – an increased sense of responsibility within the bowling unit, a process that began back at Wellington in March 2008 when he took over from Matthew Hoggard as the leader of England’s attack, and a return to the idiosyncratic, but undeniably effective, bowling action that served him so well as a rookie swing bowler at the start of his international career, but which was more or less coached out of him during his years in the wilderness between 2004 and 2006.”Keeping the ball pitched up, and obviously straight, is a basic of bowling, but it’s obviously a key thing for anyone who plays cricket,” said Anderson. “I’m really trying to get rid of any free scoring shots for the batsman, especially that one four-ball in an over, and in the last few years, certainly since Peter Moores took over the job of England coach, he instilled a lot of confidence in me and gave me some extra responsibility.”Since I suffered a stress fracture in 2006, I went back to near enough the action I started with as a 16 year old,” he added. “I think from then, I’ve gone on from strength to strength. My bowling’s improved, and is continually improving, and I’ve started to become a bit more consistent which is what I’ve been searching for for a number of years, and which every bowler strives for. I’m just really enjoying playing at the moment, I feel pretty confident with it, and the main thing for me at the minute is staying fit, keeping strong and bowling well.”The doubts will continue to linger, however, until Anderson produces a similarly reliable display in Australia this winter, a country in which he claimed five wickets at a costly 82.60 in the 2006-07 Ashes. Under the guidance of their new bowling coach, David Saker, whose greatest emphasis is on tactics rather than techniques, England have already begun practising with a Kookaburra ball to attune themselves mentally to the task that awaits them this winter, but Anderson is adamant that the challenge should not be overstated.”I’ve bowled six balls this summer with a Kookaburra, just to see how it held up in English conditions, nothing more than that,” he said. “We’ve gone to plenty other countries in the past and won using the Kookaburra so it’s not a big deal, and not something we’re going to worry about. I’ve bowled well in plenty of games where the ball hasn’t swung – it’s just a matter of doing it on a consistent basis to prove to people that I can do it. I know I can do it, but I’ve just got to become consistent.”James Anderson works with ASICS Smarter Cricket. For expert coaching videos visit www.asics.co.uk/cricket

West Ham dealt major Lyon blow

As West Ham United manager David Moyes gears up for a crunch clash with Lyon in the Europa League tonight, it appears he is now been dealt a big blow.

The Lowdown: Hammers hunt for history…

Following their historic last 16 tie with Sevilla, which resulted in West Ham knocking out the competition’s most successful ever side, Moyes’ men now prepare for their quarter-final second leg clash with Lyon.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/west-ham-newest-updates/” title=”West Ham newest updates!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Their first bout at the London Stadium ended 1-1 after Tanguy Ndombele’s equaliser cancelled out an opening goal courtesy of Jarrod Bowen, finely balancing the second leg in France tonight.

In terms of team news, Moyes has been potentially boosted by the absence of key Lyon stars, with goalkeeper Anthony Lopes and attacker Lucas Paqueta set to miss the crunch clash.

However, in a major blow, the Scotsman will now be without his mainstay defender Kurt Zouma – who joins Angelo Ogbonna on the sidelines.

The Latest: Irons confirm blow…

Indeed, as confirmed by the club, West Ham’s centre-back will miss tonight through injury alongside Ogbonna who’s still recovering from knee surgery.

“West Ham confirm that Kurt Zouma is ruled out for Thursday’s second leg vs Lyon,” relayed Jack Rosser of The Evening Standard.

“He’ll stay in London for further tests on his ankle.”

The Verdict: Major setback…

Without both Ogbonna and Zouma, the Irons may have to turn to a defensive partnership of Issa Diop and Craig Dawson, with Moyes even hinting at the possibility of using Rice in that role.

The former Chelsea star’s absence seems set to cause a major headache for West Ham with the player’s quality also undeniable.

According to WhoScored, no Hammers player has averaged a better rate of clearances per 90 in the Premier League than Zouma this term – backing just how solid and dependable he can be at the back.

French football correspondent Jonathan Johnson for CBS Sports heaped praise on the 27-year-old during his rise to becoming a star defender, branding Zouma a ‘sensational player’ with a ‘bright future’ for France (Twitter).

He was proven right going by his performances in the Premier League over these last few seasons and there is little denying he will be a big miss for West Ham and Moyes.
