Speaking after Leicester City’s 2-0 win against Arsenal, Rob Tanner of The Athletic praised Demarai Gray’s impact off the bench.

What did he say?

Gray, who is rated at £18m on Transfermarkt, replaced Ayoze Perez on the hour mark, with the score still remaining 0-0.

The 23-year-old had a hand in the opening goal of the game that came just eight minutes after he was brought off the bench. He made a run behind Rob Holding and held the Arsenal defender off to make Ricardo Pereira’s through ball, before playing it back to the Portuguese full-back.

This may seem simple, but it was intelligent play that opened up space for Pereira to exploit, as five passes later Jamie Vardy was sending the ball towards the back of the net.

When someone in The Athletic’s Q&A mentioned Leicester’s disappointing first half, and the performance in the second period that won them the game, Tanner replied: “They were just stuttering in the final third in the first half. Gray made a difference. Another good impact from the bench.”

This is the second game in a row Gray has made a difference after coming off the bench for the Foxes, as he did the same against Crystal Palace.

At Selhurst Park, having come on for the final 16 minutes, Gray made a dummy which let the ball run through to Vardy, before playing a one-two that ended up with the clinical striker scoring to make the result 2-0.

Gray has only started one league game this season, coming off the bench on seven occasions, which can be seen as the Englishman being cast to the side.

However, he has still displayed that he can make an impact for Brendan Rodgers, averaging 0.8 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game, while maintaining a pass success rate of 89.9%.

The attitude Gray has shown towards the role he is fulfilling has not gone unnoticed by his manager, as in September Rodgers was quoted in The Leicester Mercury as saying:

“Some players can sulk and fall out with themselves, but he has worked very, very hard and he made a great impact in the game [against AFC Bournemouth].”

This indicates that while Gray has not been starting games for Leicester, his contributions are still seen as important for the club.

Multiple reports have emerged over the international break, which concerns several members of Slaven Bilic’s Championship-leading side.

Nathan Ferguson is one who could be on his way out of the Hawthorns as the club will supposedly look to sell him if no agreement can be made over a new contract; Matheus Pereira has been linked to Manchester United; Grady Diangana continually faces uncertainty over his loan deal.

And now Chris Willock, who Bilic signed on deadline day and is yet to feature in a senior game, is being considered as a permanent addition in the winter window.

The 21-year-old winger is on loan from Benfica B and has scored three goals and assisted four in seven Premier League 2 matches this term, per Transfermarkt.

Some of the Baggies faithful have been discussing the potential decision on social media.

A few were against such a deal with one supporter calling it a ‘waste of money’ as the starlet is yet to even make the bench for a Championship fixture while another pleaded the club to save money.

However, many were on board with it. A further member of the Albion crowd claimed Willock was a ‘class player’ with one more wondering if the former Arsenal graduate was the hidden goalscorer they have been missing.

According to The Evening Standard, Richarlison has emerged as a January transfer target for Manchester United.

What’s the story?

United are said to want to add a striker to their squad during the upcoming transfer window, and Richarlison is on the list of forwards they are looking at.

Also mentioned are Red Bull Salzburg’s Erling Haaland, RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner and Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson.

Cannot afford to lose him

Everton have been rather disappointing so far this season. After 12 games, they have won just four matches, and currently sit 15th in the Premier League table. On top of that, they have only scored 13 goals in the competition, which is more than just five other teams.

However, Richarlison has been one of the few bright sparks. He was the Goodison Park outfit’s joint-top scorer in the previous campaign, and he has started this term in similar fashion. His three goals in the top tier means he leads the way amongst his teammates alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with only Lucas Digne managing more than his two assists.

With a WhoScored rating of 7.24, he is ahead of all of the other players at Marco Silva’s disposal. He has also had the most shots amongst any of his teammates with 2.7 per game, also winning a team-high 2.1 fouls.

Having started every single fixture in the league so far this campaign, it is clear how important the 17-time Brazil international is to this team. Not only can they not afford to sell the former Watford man halfway through the season, it would be madness to move him on to a side who they are just two points behind in the table.

Bill Kenwright has previously stated that Farhad Moshiri wants to take Everton to the Champions League. What kind of message does it send to the fans, and indeed the players, if a star player were to be sold to a team that is not even in the competition themselves? Quite frankly, the stance on Richarlison’s future should be unequivocal: he cannot be allowed to depart.

West Ham United found themselves 1-0 down with just over 10 minutes remaining on the clock against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Manuel Pellegrini opted to make a change, and it may have slightly encouraged some to see Albian Ajeti waiting on the sidelines to be introduced to the action – a sign that the Chilean was keen on showing attacking intent.

However, the optimism around this seemed to melt away once the fourth official’s board showed that it was Sebastien Haller who was coming off.

There were many West Ham fans who simply couldn’t believe the decision the club’s manager had made.

One fan indicated that he should have gone with a striker partnership, while another merely focused on the fact that Ajeti is “useless” and questioned why on earth the former Manchester City boss would bring him on.

After all, this is a forward who now hasn’t scored in any of his first seven appearances for West Ham, a number that includes the full 90 minutes in two separate matches against lower league opposition.

There are those who have taken this as a sign that Manuel Pellegrini should be sacked as West Ham manager.

Saturday’s win against Chelsea ended a run of eight games without a victory in all competitions, but the Chilean was mistaken if he thought this was going to take all of the pressure off him.

وطلب عدم السماح لسالفي الذكر بالمشاركة في المباريات، وأن يبدأ عدد المباريات الموقوفين فيها بدءًا من المباراة الفاصلة بين الأهلي والزمالك مواليد ٩٩ والتي حدد اتحاد الكرة يوم ٢٦ مايو الجاري موعدًا لإقامتها بملعب السكة الحديد، وبالتالي تصبح مشاركة اللاعب سيف فاروق في مباراة ناديه مع طلائع الجيش في الدوري أمس الأول مخالفة للوائح والقوانين.

ويستند النادي في مذكرته التي أرسلها لاتحاد الكرة إلى عدة عوامل يأتي في مقدمتها البند الثاني من المادة الخامسة في لائحة المسابقات – الإنذارات والإيقافات – ونصه «اللاعب الموقوف لمباراة أو أكثر في أي مسابقة من مسابقات المراحل السنية لبطولات الجمهورية للشباب والناشئين سواء المقيد بها أو المصعد إليها يطبق عليه الإيقاف في نفس المسابقة الموقوف فيها ولا يحق له اللعب في أي مسابقة من مسابقات المراحل السنية – بطولات الجمهورية أو دوري القطاعات – إلا بعد إيقافه. فإذا انتهت المسابقة السنية الموقوف فيها اللاعب، فأنه يستكمل إيقافه في المسابقة المصعد إليها».

وفي ضوء قرار اتحاد الكرة الذي قرر إقامة مباراة فاصلة لتحديد بطل الدوري٩٩، هذا يؤكد ويعني أن المسابقة لم تنته، ولا يحق لأي من لاعبي الزمالك الموقوفين المشاركة في المسابقة المصعدين إليها إلا بعد تنفيذ الإيقاف في بقية مباريات المسابقة المقيدين بها والموقوفين فيها.

وفي ختام مذكرته جدد النادي تأكيده على أن مشاركة أي من هؤلاء اللاعبين يتنافى مع سلامة الموقف القانوني للمسابقة التي يشاركون فيها ما لم يتم تطبيق نص اللوائح الخاص بالإنذارات والإيقافات.

وأشار النادي إلى أنه يتمسك بحقوقه المشروعة في المسابقة التي يشارك فيها بتطبيق اللوائح والقوانين، وأنه لن يفرط في هذه الحقوق تحت أي ظروف وفق الأطر القانونية واللائحية.
