A pre-season tour is usually seen as a way of building squad harmony, morale and fitness ahead of a new season.

It traditionally involves a trip to a faraway land, in this case Australia, for players young, old and new to get accustomed to each other in a different environment.

When Leeds announced their tour of Australia, a trip in which they’ll face both Manchester United and Western Sydney Wanderers, similar assumptions would have been made.

However, Marcelo Bielsa isn’t a normal character. He may be a fantastic manager, but he doesn’t always do things in a traditional manner.

A pre-season tour to the other side of the world is a relatively new thing in football terms but neither Bielsa or the full team have travelled.

16 members of Leeds’ squad touched down over the weekend after a lengthy flight, but a number of star names were left off the list to have travelled.

It’s an interesting plan from the Argentine coach who has split his squad into two parts. Staying behind in Yorkshire are the likes of Helder Costa, Jack Clarke and Mateusz Klich whilst new arrival Ben White is also not in the tour squad.

Initially, this might have been seen as a bizarre decision, but it could actually be game-changing for Leeds heading into the new season.

Why? Because it may actually give Bielsa a chance to directly focus on embedding his new signings.

On the same day as the Whites take on United on the other side of the world, the players left behind will face rather less glamorous opposition in Tadcaster Albion.

Leeds wouldn’t have been able to play everyone in Australia so this gives a better chance of getting everyone up to speed in terms of match fitness far quicker.

It’s an unorthodox method, but it’s also genius. This will give Bielsa a chance to teach the new signings how Leeds play whilst implementing it in separate matches away from the noisy crowds.

It may also give him a chance to experiment as he did against York when Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford both played together.

Although this can be seen as somewhat of a protest against the tour from Leeds’ manager, there is logic to his madness.

It’s a different model, but one that could ultimately pay off for the new signings and players like Samu Saiz who have been away from the squad.

By staying in England, it can benefit players like Costa who may now be able to adjust to life in Leeds far sooner than he would have if he jetted off to Australia.

Therefore, splitting the squad into two has the potential to be a masterstroke.

وتابع: “ما قيمة الـ 100 مليون!، ماذا فعلت لك الأموال، وأنت تتهرب من الجماهير، وأنت (مكسوف تقابلهم في الشارع) كنت ستصبح سوبر ستار الأهلي، هذا مثال سئئ للاعب جلس في غرفة ملابس اللاعبين الناشئين في مدينة نصر، وبكل وجبة تناولها سأحاسبك عليها، كنت ستصبح قاعدة الأجيال تتعلم منها والجميع سيركض وراء الأموال، ارحل ولكن بالطريقة التي تليق بك”.

وأضاف: “انا لعبت 12 موسمًا في النادي الأهلي، لكن والدي لم يدخل ويصرح في الإعلام، حتى لو كان والدي نجم كبير في الأهلي، هذا لا يصح، هل أحد يرى والد كريستيانو رونالدو يصرح في الإعلام!، ما هذا!، بابا في البيت ينصحني ويعد لي وجبة لذيذة ويجعلني أنام في المنزل، كان الأولى لو الأباء تتحدث أن يتحدث والدي أنا بعد كل هذه البطولات التي حققتها”.

وأكد شادي محمد أنه لا يفكر في الترشح لانتخابات النادي الأهلي، مُشيرا إلى أنه يضع نصب عينيه لمناصب أخرى داخل القلعة الحمراء.

وأوضح: “حلم حياتي أن أعمل في قناة الأهلي وأقدم برنامجا أخاطب فيه الجماهير، ليس مجرد مذيعا أجلس في الأستوديو بل أتواصل مع الجماهير، هذا حلمي الشخصي، بالإضافة إلى عيني على منصب مدير التعاقدات”.

واختتم: “كنت معجبًا بفكرة عمل حسام غالي ومحمد فضل في لجنة التعاقدات، لأن العمل الجماعي أفضل، أمير توفيق محترم ويؤدي عمله بشكل جيد، ولكني أتحدث عن حلمي، وأيضا منصب مدير الكرة بالنادي، ولما لا أصبح مديرا للكرة، المنصب يحتاج لشخصية فقط، لكن لا أستطيع أن أتعدى أمير توفيق أو سيد عبد الحفيظ”. 

أعلن بيتسو موسيماني، المدير الفني للفريق الأول لكرة القدم بالنادي الأهلي، بدلاء المارد الأحمر أمام الدحيل اليوم.

الأهلي يلاقي الدحيل اليوم الخميس، في السابعة والنصف بتوقيت القاهرة، في مستهل مشوار الفريق بكأس العالم للأندية.

A number of Aston Villa supporters have thrown their weight behind striker Scott Hogan after bagging a goal in their pre-season victory last Sunday.

They hope the 27-year-old can make an impact in the Premier League next season after barely playing his part in their promotion-winning campaign.

Hogan couldn’t buy a place in the match day squad under Steve Bruce and wasn’t even able to gain a start under his former Brentford boss Dean Smith, coming off the bench just six times for a total of 68 minutes before being shipped out on loan.

His temporary switch to Sheffield United culminated in winning automatic promotion to the Premier League where he scored twice in eight appearances.

The striker joined Villa Park from Brentford in a £12m deal on deadline day in January 2017 and has only made 61 appearances in the claret and blue, scoring ten goals.

Despite his bit-part role at the club, fans are desperately hoping Hogan can make an impact for them next season in the Premier League with one fan calling for him to prove the doubters wrong.

Other supporters replied to his tweet saying they had faith in his ability with one member of the Villa fanbase stating his hard work and dedication will pay off.

وأتم: “لو لم يكن في النتيجة فهو في ما وصلنا إليه ولن نتوقف عنده، أحلامنا بحجم تاريخ الأهلي ولدينا 90 دقيقة من الاستمتاع أو التاريخ، وربما الاثنين معًا!”.

What’s the word?

Albion’s transfer activity has kicked into life in recent weeks as Slaven Bilic and the hierarchy lay the groundwork for what they are undoubtedly hoping will be a return to the top-flight.

Most recently, Romaine Sawyers re-signed for the club, a deal that marked their fifth incoming of the transfer window.

However, they look as though they could be returning to the market for Swiss forward Ajeti.

Express & Star initially reported that the player’s wages demands could be a stumbling block. Yet, Wilson has since claimed that the deal might be back on, suggesting the Baggies’ interest wasn’t dead.

Transfermarkt currently rate the player at £6.3m.

Fixing a problem

At the moment, West Brom are heading into the season with a distinct lack of goals in their side.

Dwight Gayle was in superb form for Albion last term but has returned to Newcastle following his loan spell whilst Jay Rodriguez has packed his bags for Burnley. As a pair last term they netted 46 times.

Without them, therefore, they could well struggle.

Hal Robson-Kanu is still at the club but finished last season with a red card whilst Kenneth Zohore’s arrival after scoring just once in 2018/19 isn’t too convincing.

The fact is that West Brom will need someone who can score on a regular basis and judging by Ajeti’s record in Switzerland, he can provide that.

At 22 years of age, he is still very much a developing player and scored 14 times in 32 Swiss Super League matches throughout last season.

That was further enhanced by five goals in the cup as well as scoring in continental competitions for his club.

In each of his last three seasons with Basel, he’s found the net with double figures and for a West Brom outfit who lack a genuine goalscorer, this would be a hugely encouraging signing if he joins.

How Leeds approach the 2019/20 season will be interesting to see.

The Whites head into the new campaign with the intention of going one better than they did last term, something midfielder Adam Forshaw revealed this week.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men fell desperately short in the playoffs, being seen off by Derby but whether they have the capabilities to improve on that remains to be seen.

Yet, in order to that, they may have to spring a surprise or two.

On the chalkboard

Leeds didn’t change things up too much under Bielsa in his first season.

They started the term alternating between a 4-1-4-1 formation and a 4-2-3-1 system, one which initially paid off as they got off to a red-hot start in the Championship, going unbeaten in their first eight games.

Indeed they retained their good form throughout the majority of the first half of the season but arguably as other teams became more familiar with their style, they looked far less convincing. That was evident particularly in the play-offs against Derby, although individual errors also played a part.

Only this week, Tony Dorigo laid claims that because Bielsa’s methods and system weren’t new, the team will get better. He told Yorkshire Evening Post:

“Last year it was all brand new, a bit of a shock to the system.

“It wouldn’t have been this time round and I think, just because of that, the team will improve.”

However, in doing so he’s rather inadvertently hinted at a major problem at Leeds. The fact that their players will be more familiar is obviously a positive but it’ll also play into their opposition who will now know what to expect.

With that in mind, it may be wise for the Whites to change things up in some games and cause somewhat of a surprise with their tactics, particularly if the going gets tough as it did at the end of the last campaign.

After all, the amount of variety Leeds have in attacking midfield and the options out wide dictates that Bielsa should be open to being more flexible.

Ahead of what is likely to be another fiercely contest campaign, small details like this could prove key.

وبحسب مجلة “كيكر” الألمانية، فإن مانشستر سيتي وليفربول، يدرسان إمكانية التعاقد مع لاعب الوسط الألماني فلوريان نيوهاوس من صفوف مونشنجلادباخ.

نيوهاوس صاحب الـ”23″ عامًا، يجيد اللعب في مركز صانع الألعاب، والجناح الأيسر، ويُعد مطلوبًا أيضًا لدىّ نادي بايرن ميونخ.

وأوضحت المجلة أنّ ليفربول، سيقوم بمُراقبة ومُتابعة نيوهاوس خلال الفترة القادمة، في ظل سعي النادي للتعاقد معه خلال الصيف القادم.

وقالت المجلة إنّه ليس ليفربول ومانشستر سيتي فقط اللذين يرغبان في ضم نيوهاوس، حيث سيواجه الفريقان مُنافسة قوية من جانب توتنهام هوتسبير، إلى جانب ريال مدريد الإسباني.

نيوهاوس يُعد من الركائز الأساسية في بوروسيا مونشنجلادباخ، حيث شارك هذا الموسم في 28 مُباراة بمُختلف المُسابقات وسجّل ستة أهداف وصنع مثلها.

Albian Ajeti is earning £30,000-per-week at West Ham United after completing his move to the club, per ClaretandHugh.

What’s the word?

The striker was confirmed as the club’s latest summer signing on Thursday morning.

He has signed a four-year contract in east London and ClaretandHugh claims that he has agreed to a weekly wage of £30k.

That is significantly less than the wages earned by Javier Hernandez; Spotrac claims that he is the highest-paid player at the London Stadium with a wage of £140,000-per-week.

Nevertheless, Ajeti scored 21 goals in all competitions last season and is a full Switzerland international.

A low-cost, low-risk addition

This is unlikely to go wrong for the Hammers.

A separate ClaretandHugh report claims that the club have paid £11m in total for the 22-year-old.

A player with a high upside – his scoring record at Basel has been exceptional, with 43 goals in 96 outings – he is earning a fraction of the highest-paid players at West Ham and he could still have a major impact in east London.

Indeed, Manuel Pellegrini’s squad was rather thin, with just Sebastian Haller and Javier Hernandez as his striking options.

With the addition of Ajeti, the striking department looks well-stocked, and at a rather low cost too.

وأضاف: “لكن الأمر سيستغرق بضعة أسابيع، لن يلعب في فبراير، هذا أمر مؤكد”.

وواصل النرويجي: “ستمر بضعة أسابيع حتى نستطيع رؤية بوجبا معنا، هذا هو الأمر”.

هذا الأمر يعني غياب بوجبا عن مواجهتي ريال سوسيداد في ذهاب وإياب دور الـ32 من الدوري الأوروبي، ونيوكاسل وتشيلسي في البريميرليج.

ويأمل مانشستر يونايتد استعادة خدمات بوجبا في مواجهة مانشستر سيتي في مباراة الديربي بـ الدوري الإنجليزي يوم 6 مارس القادم.
