– Estou muito feliz por ter conseguido realizar boas partidas e ajudar o Palmeiras a conseguir o título da Libertadores logo em sua primeira disputa. É um feito e tanto para o clube e, claro, para nós atletas, então é inevitável esse sentimento de orgulho e dever cumprido. Isso só foi possível graças a todo o grupo que se empenhou em busca desse objetivo – destacou a goleira, que teve atuações de destaque na campanha vitoriosa da equipe.

Já a camisa 19, por sua vez, foi uma das responsáveis por reter a posse de bola e sustentar o ataque palmeirense ao longo de toda a competição. Carol Baiana celebrou a ótima campanha ofensiva da equipe paulista e ressaltou a união do grupo.

– Realizamos uma competição muito consistente, especialmente no setor ofensivo e isso só foi possível graças à dedicação de todas. Afinal, atacamos com 11 e defendemos também com 11. O resultado de toda essa dedicação veio com o título da competição que era o desejo de todas nós – comentou.

A campanha do título inédito da Libertadores teve jogos marcantes para os torcedores e, também, para as atletas. Jully elegeu o confronto das quartas de final contra o Santiago Morning como o mais importante triunfo de toda a campanha.

– O jogo mais importante da campanha foi contra o Santiago Morning pelas quartas de final. Saímos atrás do placar, mas conseguimos mostrar força, principalmente mentalmente, para conseguirmos a virada no último lance da partida. Para mim aquele jogo mostrou que tínhamos força suficiente para conquistarmos o título – concluiu.

Em sua primeira participação, o Palmeiras conquistou a Libertadores de forma invicta e isso já garantiu que a equipe tenha uma vaga carimbada para a próxima edição da competição.

– Fizemos história. Tanto na competição como no clube e isso é incrível. Conseguimos, com muito esforço, união e dedicação, alcançarmos o tão sonhado título, que era importante para nós. Nosso objetivo é sempre colocar o Palmeiras no topo das competições que disputamos – finalizou Carol.

Apesar de ter conquistado a Libertadores, a temporada ainda não acabou para as atletas palmeirenses. Na disputa pelo título do Paulista, que está em andamento, as Palestrinas venceram o Taubaté na última quarta-feira pelo placar de 2 a 1, e agora se preparam para enfrentar a Ferroviária, em casa, no dia 16 deste mês, às 21h30.

Temba Bavuma suffered a strain to his left hamstring in the first session of the Boxing Day Test against India, putting his participation in the match in doubt. Bavuma left the field in the 20th over and was sent for a scan soon after. A Cricket South Africa statement said he will “undergo daily medical evaluations to determine” if he will play any further role in the match.Bavuma was fielding at mid-off when Virat Kohli drove Marco Jansen through extra cover and he gave chase. The ball stopped before reaching the boundary and Bavuma did not have to dive to haul it in but as he caught up to it, he clutched his hamstring and went down in pain. He received treatment on the field and then left, unaided. Dean Elgar, the former Test captain playing in his last series, moved himself from slip to mid-off and appeared to have taken over leadership duties.This was Bavuma’s first outing since South Africa’s semi-final at the 50-over World Cup against Australia on November 16, where he was carrying a right hamstring strain. Bavuma picked up that injury while fielding in their final group match against Afghanistan in Ahmedabad on November 10, but did not leave the field at any stage and batted for 49 minutes as South Africa successfully chased 245. He did not have a scan in India but progressed with a rehabilitation program at training and was cleared to play the semi-final, even though he conceded that he was not 100% fit. South Africa lost that match by three wickets.Bavuma was rested from their next assignment of three T20Is and three ODIs against India which started on December 10 and was due to play a four-day first-class match between December 14 and 17 to prepare for the Test series. He missed the game because of a family bereavement. On the eve of the Test Bavuma declared himself, “mentally as fresh as ever,” and he was a strong presence in the field for the first 90 minutes of play (which started half an hour late after overnight rain).If he is unable to bat, South Africa will be a player short for the rest of the game as Bavuma cannot be replaced due to an external injury, and he may also be a concern for the New Year’s Test. The second Test starts on January 3 in Cape Town.

Com o tento que fechou o placar na última terça-feira, o paraguaio chegou a 11 gols em 2022. Sim, um defensor, atingindo mais de dez gols em uma mesma temporada, mais até do que muitos atacantes do próprio Verdão. Dudu (10), Rafael Navarro (7), Breno Lopes (5) e Wesley (3), por exemplo, somaram menos bolas na rede.

Uma marca dessa não poderia ser uma simples marca de 2022. E não será, já que ela transcendeu a temporada e entrou para a história do clube. Antes da partida contra o Athletico-PR, Junior Baiano (1999), Gustavo Gómez (2022) e Murilo (2022) dividiam o status de zagueiros com mais gols em um só ano pelo Palmeiras, todos com dez tentos.

O paraguaio, portanto, já era recordista, mas dividia o feito com outros colegas de posição. Assim, o gol da última terça-feira significou a liderança isolada no ranking de zagueiros artilheiros em uma temporada. São 11 tentos anotados por Gómez até o momento.

Vale destacar que a zaga atual como grupo também é recordista. São 22 gols de zagueiros em 2022 (11 de Gómez, dez de Murilo e um de Luan), outra marca histórica, que anteriormente pertencia aos anos de 1999 e 2006, quando 18 gols de zagueiros foram marcados.

Com mais quatro partidas restantes no Brasileirão-2022 e essa ótima fase do paraguaio e de seu companheiro de zaga, é provável que os recordes continuem a ser batidos, talvez até com Gómez e Murilo dividindo essas marcas individuais. – As conquistas são sempre coletivas, nunca individuais. It will be Anderson’s 184th Test cap, and his first of 2024, and will complete one of the most lop-sided Test attacks ever fielded, with the rest of England’s specialist bowlers in a spin-heavy attack boasting a total of three Test caps.Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Stokes said he was confident that Bashir’s complicated passage to India would not impact on his performance, adding that his chance to sit in the dressing-room during the latter stages of the Hyderabad Test had allowed Bashir to assimilate with the team environment.”He was just taking it all in to be honest, landing [from the UK] that early, then coming in and seeing what had gone on,” Stokes said. “I think he really enjoyed being in that dressing-room [on day four]. Without frontliners Jhye Richardson, Lance Morris and Matthew Kelly for most of the season, WA had to rely on their fringe quicks. Cameron Gannon, who took eight wickets in the final, and Charlie Stobo stepped up at the backend of the season, but it was the reliable presence of left-armer Paris that held the attack together.Paris was unlucky to only take two wickets in the final as he again set the tone with menacing new ball bowling in both of Tasmania’s innings. He exploited the grassy surface superbly and consistently beat the bat with sharp seam movement.Paris finished the season with 39 wickets at a remarkable average of just 15.2. In 44 first-class matches since debuting in late 2015, he has taken 174 wickets at 20.05 and striking at 45.9.As can be gleaned from his relatively limited number of first-class appearances, Paris has endured a litany of injuries during his career forcing WA to be cautious with his workload.After a delayed start to the season due to a hamstring injury suffered playing for Australia A against New Zealand A in Brisbane, Paris’ durability impressed as he played five straight Shield matches – along with WA’s triumph in the Marsh Cup against New South Wales – culminating with the Shield final.”When you’re in a situation where you just have to keep going, I think your body senses that and just finds something,” Paris said. “I’m really proud of what I’ve been able to achieve this year. The amount of cricket I’ve been able to play…certainly haven’t been able to do it before.”We’ve probably been in a position in past seasons where I’ve been able to rest a little bit more than what I have this season. To get through was really special.”Paris, 31, played two ODIs against India in 2016, but his injuries and the depth of quicks in Australian cricket have kept him away from the international stage.Paris, however, remains on the radar of the Australian hierarchy. Along with playing for Australia A last year, Paris was in the frame for selection on the last Ashes tour.”That desire to play for Australia is always there. For me that will never go away until I put up the boots,” he said. “If an opportunity comes up, I’ll absolutely take it.”Paris is unsure of his offseason plans, with a stint in the UK a possibility but dependent on his body. Right now, however, he is eyeing a well-deserved breather.”I’ll be putting the feet up for a little bit,” he said. “I’m going to enjoy this one [title] as much as possible.”
