Arsenal starlet Reiss Nelson slammed by fans for one key moment for England U21s

One of the many talented youngsters coming through at Arsenal, Reiss Nelson took the unconventional path last season by heading on loan to the Bundesliga and following in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho in moving abroad.

The Gunners academy product spent the year at Hoffenheim under the tutelage of Julian Nagelsmann, and enjoyed a largely successful time in Germany, scoring eight goals in 31 games and being nominated for the Rookie of the Year award too.

However, after returning to the Emirates for this campaign, first-team opportunities have been much harder to come by, with Nelson making just six senior appearances in total.

On Friday night, he was in action for England U21s, and though he ended up getting on the score-sheet, fans watching the game were quick to point out one particular moment in the build-up to his goal.

Leading a counter-attack, Nelson had Manchester United starlet Mason Greenwood in acres of space to the left of him, but seemingly failed to spot the run and instead played it to his right.

Despite going on to score from the move, fans took to Twitter to hammer the Gunners prospect for his lack of vision, with some fans insisting that he is simply over-rated.

Man City fans want to sign Lautaro Martinez after recent reports

Manchester City fans have reacted to the reports that Pep Guardiola is interested in prising away Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez. However, the reports from Interlive.it (via Sport Witness) state there is strong competition from fellow European giants such as Manchester United.

Reports last month (via Sport Witness) did tell how City looked towards Martinez as a potential replacement for Sergio Aguero, who turns 32 in the summer. Elsewhere, a report from Calciomercato this week has revealed Martinez’s buyout clause is set at €111m (£95m).

Now, Interlive.it report that City are ready to offer Gabriel Jesus, who wants a new adventure, in a part-exchange deal for the forward.

The 22-year-old has impressed in Italy this season, as he has helped Inter into second in Serie A, just one point behind Juventus.

The striker’s eight goals in all competitions so far put him just one behind Romelu Lukaku, as Antonio Conte’s men continue to impress.

It seems this potential signing has a lot of City fans hoping that the deal goes through, despite the fact Jesus could move the other way.

Many fans have said Martinez is better than Jesus, with one supporter saying he would complete the deal “in a heartbeat”.

Here’s how some fans have reacted to the latest reports…

West Ham fans criticise Sebastien Haller’s display

[ad_pod ]

West Ham United fans have criticised Sebastien Haller after the Irons lost 3-2 to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Jose Mourinho’s side looked set to run out comfortable winners at the London Stadium but were almost pegged back, with Michail Antonio and Angelo Ogbonna scoring to make a game of it in the second half.

Haller, though, struggled to make an impression in east London.

The striker, the club’s record signing, had 52 touches of the ball, per WhoScored, and also had five shots on goal, though only one was on target.

He had a pass success rate of just 56%, while he did not manage to complete a dribble, nor did he make a tackle.

And supporters have hit out at his performance.

He has scored four goals thus far this season and has now gone five games without hitting the back of the net; his last goal came against Crystal Palace in October.

Take a look at the best of the reaction on Twitter below!

Diogo Dalot mocks Bruno Fernandes

As we’re all shut in at home for the next few weeks, now is probably the perfect time to try out a new look, whether that’s growing a bit more facial hair, giving yourself a buzz-cut or getting the dye out for something really trippy. And it seems that Bruno Fernandes has taken that opportunity, having grown himself a goatee.

Hilariously obscure Premier League players – Can you name them all?

But the Portugal international’s new look certainly hasn’t won over everybody. After an image was shared by @Utdreport on Twitter, team-mate Diogo Dalot had his say, replying with a series of crying-with-laughter emojis and declaring that Bruno looks like he could be a character in popular Netflix series Narcos.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a fine start to his Old Trafford career, producing three goals and four assists in nine games since arriving from Sporting Lisbon during the January transfer window.

Dalot, meanwhile, is still very much finding his feet at United, managing only ten outings so far this season.

Meanwhile, the latest on Mason Greenwood has left loads of Man United fans fuming…

Spurs fans absolutely buzzing with Harry Kane’s announcement

Amidst all the controversy surrounding Tottenham and Daniel Levy at the moment, Harry Kane has stepped up to help remind people that football and footballers in particular can still have a positive impact.

The England international announced via his official Twitter account that he and some fellow Premier League stars have launched their fundraising drive, “PlayersTogether”, to help raise significant sums of money to be distributed to NHS workers and those most in need of help during this current situation.

Spot the fact from the fib: Are these Premier League records true or false?

World Class score: 95% | Expert score: 80% | Veteran score: 65% | Intermediate score: 45% | Amateur score: 30% | Try Again: 5%

And after hearing about Kane’s role in the initiative, Spurs fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on their talisman’s actions.

Some Spurs fans felt that Kane is showing Levy how to act, with one supporter in particular suggesting that the striker is “putting our chairman to shame”.

Boy did football need something like this.

Both Spurs and Liverpool, amongst others, have brought their own clubs’ reputations and the sport of football into disrepute, but this latest fundraising campaign orchestrated by the players shows they have a powerful voice that can really provide crucial help.

Kane, and everyone else involved in the scheme, deserve a lot of credit for backing their words with actions.

Meanwhile, Spurs fans are reminiscing over this former powerhouse.

Wolverhampton Wanderers: Fans laud ‘true club legend’ Robbie Dennison

Some Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have been lauding their former man Robbie Dennison after throwback footage of him was posted by the Midlands club’s official Twitter page.

In the tweet, the 57-year old can be seen parading down the wing before shifting the ball past the defender and onto his left foot and then unleashing a superb curling effort into the top corner, before going off to celebrate with the supporters and his teammates.

Dennison joined Wolves from West Bromwich Albion back in 1987, and would go on to play in the Old Gold for over a decade before moving to Hednesford Town on a free transfer, according to Transfermarkt. As per the website, the Northern Irishman also played for Glenavon in his home country before transferring to West Brom in 1985, and retired at Hereford United.

These WWFC supporters lauded their ex-ace, with one fan describing him as ‘a true club legend’:

Everton: Fans share mixed views on ‘worst ever player’ debate

Many Everton fans have joined in a debate on social media after @thetoffees_com asked them to name the worst player that has played for the club.

Carlo Ancelotti will embark on his first summer transfer window with Everton in the coming months, and that could see a number of underperformers leave the club.

Marco Silva’s time at Goodison Park saw the Toffees struggle for consistency, and Ancelotti has managed to bring some improvement to the club, sitting 12th in the Premier League table as things stand.

With the former AC Milan and Real Madrid manager now in charge, fans of the club can be expectant that improvement will follow, given his excellent coaching career and countless honours.

The current postponement of football due to the recent pandemic has seen football fans engage via social media on certain topics, and with changes expected this summer at the club, fans have now opted to take a look at some of the players they deem as ‘the worst’ to play for the club.

Countless names were mentioned in the debate with defender Cuco Martina’s name being one of those, however, fans did also defend the Dutchman.

Reacting to a tweet via fan account @thetoffees_com, fans responded with various names:

Toffees fans, who do you think the worst player to pull on an Everton jersey is? Let us know your thoughts below…

Crystal Palace: Club might struggle to bring in transfer target Loren Moron

Crystal Palace have been linked with forward Loren Moron, via HITC, however the latest reports around the player suggest he might not be going anywhere in the summer.

The earlier reports by HITC suggested he was valued at around £25 million, with fellow Premier League sides Tottenham Hotpsur as well as Southampton interested in the attacker, but he was uncertain about leaving his current club Real Betis who play in La Liga.

The recent news, again from HITC, according to Marca, doesn’t suggest any change in the player’s mind, in fact, it goes on to say Betis want to give the 26 year-old a new contract to hopefully block a potential transfer.

However if the Eagles could manage to persuade the Spaniard to join them, possibly by offering bonuses or a big wage, then it would strengthen their squad massively.

Currently this season, Moron has nine goals and two assists, and this would rank him as top goal scorer if he was at the South London side, via WhoScored. He also averages 1.6 shots per game, which would rank him joint-highest at Palace alongside Jordan Ayew.

With Palace having only netted 26 times this term, which is the second least goals scored in the league this season, via SofaScore, they need as much strength up front as possible. With players like Christian Benteke only scoring five Premier League goals in three seasons, per Transfermarkt, and struggling to find the back of the net, the club should be going all out for a striker like Moron.

Palace fans, what are your thoughts on the lack of goals at the club? Comment below!

Taylor Harwood-Bellis – Profile

Name: Taylor Harwood-Bellis

Club: Manchester City

Date of Birth: 30 January 2002

Position: Centre-back

Taylor Harwood-Bellis – his career so far

Hailing from Stockport and the same Stockport Metro Junior League that produced his Manchester City teammate Phil Foden, the 18-year-old Taylor Harwood-Bellis has been a part of the Citizens’ academy ever since he was only six years of age.

And interestingly enough, the young defender also formed a partnership in the backline with another bright prospect of the academy who joined at a much later stage in his development, Eric Garcia. The whole generation seems incredible for Man City at this point and the best part is, they are only now starting to fully blossom and emerge onto the scene.

Harwood-Bellis, however, hasn’t had the exposure to the senior team his teammates have enjoyed since their progress from the academy. The imposing 18-year-old centre-back is still registered as Man City’s U23 squad member and can only boast with a handful of appearances for the first-team in his young career.

But he did climb the youth ranks quite quickly and with great impressions. He ended up playing a total of 18 games for the U18 squad, even netting an impressive three goals in the process as well. On a similar note, his ventures in the Youth Cup with the UEFA U19 team were equally good as he mustered ten appearances with a goal on the side as well as City clawed their way towards the final of the competition.

Still, his biggest contribution to date is to the U23s, for whom he played a total of 31 games and netted two goals in the process as well.

Harwood-Bellis’ professional debut arrived when he was named in the starting lineup for Man City’s EFL Cup clash against Preston North End in September 2019 and prior to that, he would also feature in the team’s pre-season US tour.

Since then, he could muster three additional appearances for the seniors, bagging one goal in the FA Cup as well.

Transfer latest

The biggest Manchester City news on the youngster is definitely the decision the club and Pep Guardiola will make on his future. He is only 18 years of age so there’s still a way for him to go in terms of progression and development but he’s been a regular with their U23s for quite some time now and he could probably use some first-team experience, either with the Citizens or possibly even on loan.

Either way, it wouldn’t really be a bad idea to show some faith in him and maybe push him towards the seniors a bit more often, just to ensure his immediate future remains linked to the Etihad.

Of course, with the summer transfer window approaching, City should also be alert to any transfer rumours or transfer news trying to unsettle the kid. At this point, however, nothing indicates they should be scared just yet.

Player profile

Harwood-Bellis is an imposing and powerful central defender that is well capable of shrugging attackers off the ball and then initiating attacks by himself when he’s in possession and has successfully forced a turnover.

When it comes to his positioning, the youngster usually has to deal with long-balls and aerial threats as City’s box is often bombarded in such a manner. But it’s interesting to see how he’s also aggressive in his approach as he often leaves his position in order to engage the opposition in a duel.

And while he still has to work on his decision-making and body orientation when defending, this is mostly due to the sheer inexperience and young age. He is, however, comfortable on the ball and would suit Man City’s style of play if given a proper chance.

Aston Villa: Jack Grealish’s tweet has fans talking

Aston Villa club captain Jack Grealish has touched on Wednesday evening’s 0-0 draw with Sheffield United on social media platform Twitter.

The Claret and Blue side returned to Premier League action on Wednesday night as they faced a tricky tie against Chris Wilder’s impressive Blades.

The game, which was played behind closed doors, was the first since early March having had the 2019/2020 season postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Villa desperately needed a win, sitting 19th in the league standings, but the tie finished with the points being shared between the two sides. It wasn’t without controversy though, as Oliver Norwood’s free-kick clearly went over the line after an error from Orjan Nyland, only for goalline technology to fail, meaning the Blades were robbed of a goal (BBC Sport).

Grealish, who has captained the club this term has been superb for the most part, contributing to his side’s cause with seven goals and six assists in 27 games.

Touching on the game via his official Twitter account, the former English under-21 international received a reaction from fans. One even said the Villans “dodged a bullet” in reference to the Hawkeye blunder.
