Rangers: Timm Klose would make the perfect Worrall replacement

Frankly, Rangers need to upgrade nearly every position in their squad this summer. In an ideal world, they wouldn’t have had to touch Joe Worrall’s position though, but he looks like he’ll return to Nottingham Forest as it stands, so Timm Klose is the best option.

It’s not ideal for Gerrard to have to bring new players into positions he wouldn’t have wanted to alter. But that’s the situation.

Indeed, it’s looking like he’s got his eye on Swiss 30-year-old Klose from Norwich according to The Scotsman, having been linked with towards the back end of April.

The centre-back’s contract is up in the summer so at least it won’t drain money from areas like centre-forward and the number 10 role where the club really do need to spend their money. To that end, he’s in his prime and Gerrard needs more experienced players to go with the young lads he’s brought in.

He’s played 31 times for Championship winners Norwich this season, even bagging four goals and an assist. All in all, he’s been a rock, and that’s exactly what Ibrox needs to allow the creative players to do their thing without the worry of leaking goals.

Next season is massive for the Gers. The fans are expecting improvement from this season and that means winning silverware. Having an experienced centre-back who has achieved success can lead them to victory.

He might not be as young or dynamic as Worrall, but he brings qualities that a young lad like him will only acquire with age.

Klose would be the perfect replacement if Gerrard can tempt him to Scotland.

Bad news for us: Everton fans doubt permanent deal for Kurt Zouma

[ad_pod ]

The fact that Chelsea have been unsuccessful in their bid to appeal a FIFA-imposed transfer ban is potentially extremely bad news for Everton.

On Wednesday, it was announced that the Blues had been unable to successfully appeal the transfer suspension, which stands until the end of January 2020.

Everton have had Kurt Zouma on loan this season, and it has been widely reported that the Toffees are keen to sign the centre-back on a permanent deal, which is not a surprise.

Indeed, Zouma has been excellent for the Merseyside outfit this term – scoring twice in 31 Premier League appearances for Marco Silva’s side.

The 24-year-old is now expected back with Chelsea for pre-season, and a number of Everton fans feel that the transfer ban will make it almost impossible for their club to be able to secure a summer deal for Zouma.

Please stay! Crystal Palace fans call for Michy Batshuayi to be signed permanently

[ad_pod ]

Crystal Palace fans on Twitter have called for Michy Batshuayi to be signed on a permanent basis, after his two-goal display against Bournemouth on the final day helped the club achieve their highest points tally for a single Premier League season.

The Belgian international arrived on loan from Chelsea in January, and has hit an impressive five goals in nine league starts for the Eagles; signing him permanently could prove difficult, however, as his parent club Chelsea have been hit with a transfer ban.

Despite that, a number of fans still want to see him signed due to him excellent performances since arriving at Selhurst Park, where he has helped ease the south Londoners’ lack of goals; Christian Benteke and Connor Wickham finished the campaign with just a single goal each.

The former Marseille forward has quickly become a fan favourite in SE25, so let’s take a look at what the Palace supporters on Twitter have been saying about him after his double against the Cherries…

"Get it done" – Tottenham fans debate potential swoop for Maxi Gomez

[ad_pod ]

Maxi Gomez is seemingly a really hot product on the market as multiple Premier League giants are wrestling to get his signature, as per Daily Star’s most recent report.

Naturally, any sort of movement on the transfer market has Tottenham Hotspur fans all rallied up and eager to finally get a sniff at a potential purchase.

While a few of them are still sceptical about the transfer happening in the first place and have taken to social media and Twitter to express their doubts, some want Daniel Levy to make a move for the highly-rated front-man.

The fee is reported to be £43m if the release clause is to be paid by Spurs, who are apparently leading the hunt for Gomez’s services.

Of course, the media have done their part in planting the seeds of doubts in the minds of fans since Tottenham are no strangers to all kinds of links to all kinds of targets almost on a daily basis – their recent transfer history doesn’t really help, either.

You can see their mixed feelings to the potential swoop in the tweets below…

Sheffield Wednesday: Bruce must consider summer swoop for Stuart Findlay

Having led his side to a 12th place finish in the Championship earlier this month, Steve Bruce will undoubtedly be wanting to build a squad that will be capable of launching a push for promotion next season.

Yet in order to achieve this, he simply has to avoid making any mistakes in the transfer market as a failure to recruit sufficiently could result in the Owls finding it difficult to compete in what is arguably the most unforgiving league in world football.

Although Wednesday need to make improvements in a number of different positions, their number one priority over the coming months has to be to find a replacement for the departing Michael Hector.

A stand-out performer during the 2018/19 campaign for the Owls, the 26-year-old’s outstanding levels of consistency resulted in him being named the club’s Player of the Year earlier this month.

Yet with the defender’s loan spell from Chelsea scheduled to run out next week (via Transfermarkt), it is unclear whether Wednesday will be able to convince him to make a permanent move this summer.

If they can’t secure Hector’s services, the Yorkshire-based outfit should do everything they possibly can to secure a move for one of the most exciting young prospects in Scotland.

According to the Scottish Sun, Wednesday are reportedly interested in signing Stuart Findlay from Kilmarnock with Bruce personally making the trip north of the border to watch him in action against Hearts earlier this month.

An incredibly talented player, the £450k-rated ace (via Transfermarkt) was a key reason for why Killie were able to secure a third-place finish behind Celtic and Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.

Although it may prove to be difficult to convince Findlay to give up the prospect of Europa League football next season, it may be worth Bruce splashing the cash to try and bring him to Hillsborough as he has clearly has the potential to become a top defender in the future.

What do you think Wednesday fans? Should Bruce swoop for Findlay if he cannot sign Hector this summer? Are you confident that your side can launch a bid for promotion next season? Let us know below.

Tottenham: Ryan Sessegnon would be Spurs left-back for the next decade

Tottenham, surely, are looking to build a team capable of challenging for the Premier League title for the next 10 years. We’re simply at that stage of this project now. So, to that end, if they can sign Ryan Sessegnon then they’ll be one step closer.

The Fulham left-back has been a revelation over the last two seasons and Football Insider claimed earlier this week that Spurs want to wrap up his arrival before the Champions League Final. Unlikely right now considering its tomorrow, but who can blame them considering the quality and potential he possesses?

Still just 19-years-old and has played 35 times for his club this season. Yes, some of the excitement from last season has died somewhat but they’re pretty good stuff for such a young talent. Despite Fulham’s relegation, he’s proved he can take the pressure of playing in the Premier League and that’s a great sign he could fill Spurs’ left-back position for a decade.

He’s rated at £31.5m on Transfermarkt so he won’t be cheap, but the long-term potential of the player means even that sum would be a bargain. Think about the premiums placed on young, talented and English players, after all.

Fast, strong and has lots of attacking intent, and that’s exactly what the Spurs fans and manager want from their full-backs. Simply put, he’d excite the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and provide the final ball to create assists galore at the highest level.

The Lilywhites have an opportunity to tie down the left-back position for the next decade. By bringing Sessegnon in, they’ll have established stability and quality they haven’t seen down the left since Gareth Bale left.

Assessing Aston Villa’s winger search: Anwar El Ghazi vs Joe Lolley

[ad_pod ]

Aston Villa have returned to the Premier League with a loanee-laden squad. Tammy Abraham, Tyrone Mings and Anwar El Ghazi all played pivotal roles in the club’s promotion bid, yet all three could be plying their trade away from Villa Park next season.

Dean Smith only needs to take a look at how the widely-revered Fulham side managed by Slavisa Jokanovic slumped in the Premier League to acknowledge that a summer spending spree is not a necessary prerequisite to top-flight success. But, even with the Cottagers’ failure to compete at the top level still firmly in mind, there is no doubt that Villa need to bolster their squad.

After scoring the opening goal in the play-off final, El Ghazi’s reputation catapulted into newfound levels of popularity, such is the extent of the romanticism associated with such an emotionally-charged and season-defining moment. As the Dutch winger stooped to inadvertently shoulder the ball into the corner of the Derby net, time appeared to stop for a fleeting moment. Breaths were held and pupils dilated at the claret and blue end of Wembley. Then hell unleashed.

In a moment of such intense euphoria judgements are naturally clouded. That’s right, in that very moment El Ghazi was basically akin to a Lionel Messi-Cristiano Ronaldo hybrid.

With the climax of the season evoking a whole host of fresh discussions concerning Villa’s squad, you can bet that plenty of fans sitting on the fence over the goalscorer’s future were persuaded to call for a permanent deal at that very moment. The Villans undoubtedly need to bring at least one wing-wizard to the club this summer, but a recent report from the Daily Mail has hinted that it may be Joe Lolley and not El Ghazi who makes the switch.

Both players have been strong competitors in the Championship this season, but how do they compare to one another?

A quick glance at some fundamental statistics is telling about their respective influences in the league this season.

Lolley has been an outstanding performer at the City Ground, wracking an incredible total of 110 dribbles and 84 key passes, comfortably dwarfing the numbers provided by El Ghazi.

Evidently, the 26-year-old transfer target showcased a superior level of dynamism and creative incision compared to the former Ajax talent, and that fact could go some way to explaining why is the subject of a potential £10 million move.

To further compound his serious credentials, he bagged 11 goals in the Championship campaign and also provided 11 assists. Question marks undoubtedly remain over his ability to emulate that form in the top-flight but that is the type of return which suggests he is ready for the step up in class.

While it must be considered that Lolley made more appearances than El Ghazi this season, the disparity between the statistical influence of both players is wide enough to prove that Forest’s talisman could offer a greater threat in the promised land of the Premier League next season.

Time will tell how this potential saga plays out, but it’s clear who the outstanding candidate is on recent form.

Class: Aston Villa fans discuss potential arrival of Kemar Roofe

[ad_pod ]

With the transfer window now in full swing, Aston Villa are lining up potential targets to help them prepare for life back in the Premier League.

Last week attackers Joe Lolley and Neal Maupay were both subjects of reports but now Leeds striker Kemar Roofe could also make the move to Villa Park, per Football Insider.

Reacting to the news on Twitter, there was a sense of anticipation from Villa fans who are eager to see how he’d fare in the Premier League.

One fan claimed he was young and hungry, suggesting he’d relish the chance of playing in the top-flight. Another supporter simply said he’d be a superb signing.

A further fan made an intriguing comment hinting that signing players like Roofe, rather than making expensive signings, would be beneficial in case they suffered an instant relegation.

The 26-year-old scored 15 goals in the Championship last term, the majority of which were scored in the opening months of the season.

Since the turn of the New Year, he’s only scored two goals after spending a period of time out injured.

Leeds Transfer Roundup: Abad to stay, no loan for Spaniard, Frey on radar

[ad_pod ]

Leeds will no doubt still be disappointed by failing to seal promotion to the Premier League last season. However, a good transfer window may see them once again push to gain access to the top tier. Today’s Leeds transfer roundup includes good news in regards to a member of the backroom staff, a rejected loan approach and an update in regards to a targeted striker.

Abad to stay

According to Spanish outlet Onda Cero, Marcos Abad will not be joining Spanish club Elche. The 33-year-old goalkeeping coach had been of interest, but has renewed his contract following Marcelo Bielsa’s extension and will now stay at Elland Road.

No loan for Saiz

The Whites have rejected a loan approach from an unnamed Spanish club for Samuel Saiz according to the Football Insider. Saiz spent last season out on loan at Getafe, who had the option to sign him on a permanent deal, but he did not impress enough. Leeds want to sell the player rather than see him go out on a temporary basis once again.

Leeds interested in Frey

Michael Frey is a target for Leeds according to TurksVoetbal. The Fenerbahce player has scored five goals and contributed one assist during the past campaign. Leeds are interested but do not wish to pay more than €2m (£1.8m) for the striker.

Charlton fans react as Macauley Bonne becomes first summer signing

[ad_pod ]

Charlton announced the signing of Macauley Bonne on Monday, with the 23-year-old signing from National League champions Leyton Orient on a three-year deal and thus becoming the Addicks’ first signing of the summer window.

The Zimbabwe hitman struck 23 times for the O’s in 2018/19 while also chalking up four assists in 46 appearances – a return money-tight Charlton surely see as real bang for their buck if he can replicate it in the Championship, or even score half as often.

Bonne joins after spending two seasons in the fifth tier, where he has honed his goalscoring skills and notched 45 times in total, and, after an unsuccessful career with Colchester United, he will now be hoping that he can stamp his mark on the Football League with Charlton.

Check out the video below to see football played as you’ve never seen it before… in a maze!

The Addicks already have a double-figures goalscorer in Lyle Taylor, who was an integral part of their promotion campaign, and the prospect of the former Wimbledon man and Bonne linking up should excite Charlton fans.
